For the Sailor-Moon-Club "design a new prince/ss outfit" contest.I actually came up for this idea for another character's dress, but her design is a little bit different. I went with gold-colored stylized flames on the outer sheer layer because it looked better than a lighter red color once I changed the opacity. I also wanted to incorporate Mars' secondary color, purple, thus the gradient on the outer skirt.
I redid the bodice three times until I was happy with it.

i like that she's shaped like a normal girl. that was the first thing i noticed. and then the dress just adds beautifully to her shape. you paid great attention to both, i think. i look forward to trying to pixel this dress.

Yaay the first person to point out she's not wraith-thin likes it.
I looked at her after I was done and said to myself "Well, now. She's nowhere near as skinny as a Sailormoon character is usually drawn. But... I think she looks good." I'm not gonna lie, I then looked at my husband and said "I bet someone's going to tell me she looks fat. Sailor Chubbs." (This lead to a discussion about my cat, Bastet, who we knicknamed Chubbs because she's so fluffy, as a Sailor Soldier. Laughs ensued.)

Everyone has a distinct style. Naoko's style is the skinny/rail-thin bodies. You prefer to draw them otherwise and that's the beauty of fan art, to me.
