Description
Because I'm sick of arguing about this in the forums.Let's get some things straight here: All Furry is Anthro, but not all Anthro is Furry. The Chart breaks everything down thusly:
Anthro covers every possible thing you could turn into a humanoid, from superintelligent shades of blue to your pencil, and even covers various things like your tattoos coming to life. Machines, Animals, and Plants, in non-anthro form, are all what they sound like. Anthro machines are Droids, anthro plants are Treants, and Anthro Animals are Furries. Combining Droids and Furries gives us Cyborgs, while the same combination outside of the Anthro spectrum gives us virtual pets like Aibo. Plants don't really merge with Machines or Animals too well.
So, there you have it, in nifty Venn Diagram form: All Furry is Anthro, but not all Anthro is Furry. If you insist on telling me your cartoon kitties are Anthro but not Furry, I'll be directing you to this.
If you're drawing animals with human traits, it's Furry regardless of how cartoony or sexualized it is. GET OVER IT.

I think that refers to people who actually like to see pornographic materials with furry charecters. Not sure tho.

Thank you so much for the clear cut explanation (I don't care is it's 4 years later, I'm still thanking you D8<) I've always reffered to humanized animals as furry, and then attempted to explain "That doesn't mean they bang."
The same with the over-used anthro term XD

An anthro plant...
Doesn't really sound very nice, does it?
Well, yeah.
Pretty well pointed out that "anthro" doesn't have to be furry.
If anyone asks me, I'd say "anthro" as "あんすろ" for some reason.
Oh, and OMG FURRIES!

Interesting viewpoint. However, I agree with some of the earlier comments on two matters.
First, how the term "anthro" is applied. As you point out, "Anthro covers every possible thing you could turn into a humanoid." Unfortunately, this means that it can only exist as a subset of all other categories, and therefore it can never exist on its own.
Secondly, cyborgs - they're either biological organisms augmented with technology (amputees with prosthetics counting) or hybrid biomechanical organisms. If accepted that humans are anthropomorphic animals by default, then I'll accept that animal/machine anthros are cyborgs (otherwise, that will need to be corrected). This is heavily tied in to the first point.

This is so off...
Cyborgs are things that have artificial and biological parts, not half-furry half-machine.
Also what is Anthro doing with a giant part of the circle to itself? Anthro is adding human qualities to a non-human object, not an object itself.
Good concept, but please redo this.

I don't really get it. You say not all anthro is furry, but then say the opposite of what you mean in the next sentence.
"All Furry is Anthro, but not all Anthro is Furry."
"If you're drawing animals with human traits, it's Furry regardless of how cartoony or sexualized it is."

somuchluv In reply to JustOneMoreBreath [2011-02-08 04:18:04 +0000 UTC]
Her chart is really off thats why.
Furry + Droid does not equal Cyborg. A cyborg is something that has artifical and biological parts.
She's not saying the opposite of herself though. It's the same as the sentence "All insects are bugs, but not all bugs are insects." A bug is basically any creepy crawly, but insects only have 6 legs, etc.
Something can have human traits(anthro) without being part-animal, but any part-animal part-human is a anthro.

Hawner In reply to somuchluv [2011-06-15 17:40:01 +0000 UTC]
I couldn't help but to disagree with this you said: Furry + Droid does not equal Cyborg. A cyborg is something that has artifical and biological parts.
Ok, it's true that A cyborg is a machine with biological parts, no matter what part that is (Terminator is mainly a robot, but just with a synthetic skin over him). But the fact is that a lot of people surely are familiarized with images like a droid wolf, a droid dragon...
As we are talking about things with human characteristics, it's obvious to this that the sume of furry (animals with human characteristics) and droids (Human like machines) can make perfectly a Cyborg.
The author of this deviant wanted people to ease peoples troubles seeing the diference betwen all posible anthros. This will never be off but be always usefull. At least for me. Don't flame just because you don't like it.

Furry + Droid CAN = Cyborg, but it's not the definition of it. Anthro + Droid = Cyborg.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Hawner In reply to somuchluv [2011-06-24 10:37:38 +0000 UTC]
No, you are wrong again. Droid is ALREALY anthro. Droid is a machine with human characteristics. Imagine, even if it's weird, a humanized freezer (With mechanical legs, thinking, even eyes...). THAT is droid.
A cyborg is a DROID that has biological parts (Skin, organs, muscules, bones...). Inside the anthro there is a mixure of both furry and droid that, following the same rule, make a cyborg.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
somuchluv In reply to Hawner [2011-06-24 20:14:37 +0000 UTC]
furry = animal with human characteristics
not 'skin, organs, muscles, bones'
so, once again, a cyborg CAN be furry, but is not Always.

Hawner In reply to somuchluv [2011-06-24 22:12:07 +0000 UTC]
This is absurd. Do you even read what I write? I'll copy and paste it:
"A cyborg is a DROID that has biological parts (Skin, organs, muscules, bones...)". Think about Terminator, for example. THAT is a Cyborg. I didn't mention in there nothing about furry. What I said is that the mix of DROID and FURRY make Cyborg.
Personaly, this is going too far to discuss it in here. If you want I have no problem in continue on private.

somuchluv In reply to Hawner [2011-06-25 02:46:48 +0000 UTC]
