Description
It is my own visualization of Eragon from the Inheritance trilogy by Chistropher Paolini. This was done for the sixth challenge of the Project CBRunway competition.Adaptation:
At the beginning of the trilogy, at his introduction, Eragon is a thin, 15 year old boy, a peasant. But, I felt to best portray Eragon, I needed to illustrate him after much of his training and Eragon. I choose the point after the Blood-Oath celebration in the second book of the trilogy, Eldest, to best portray him. At this point, Eragon has been healed of an infliction and he becomes more elf-like in appearance and ability. And so, I gave him tapered ears, a more angular face, and a softer overall appearance. However, since he's still human, I kept his thick eyebrows, brown hair color, and strong jaw. Also, since he is still a young man, I have made him thin, yet still somewhat toned, due to his immense training.
His clothing and weaponry are taken from the books, as he has:
-A sky blue and silver Elven tunic
-A diamond-studded belt
-Dwarven armor
-An Elven yew bow and yew/swan feather arrows
-Two rings: the sapphire ring from Brom, and the other a Dwarven puzzle ring
-Zar'roc - His sword, the wine/blood red sword given to him from Brom
When adapting those possessions of his, I felt the following things were necessary:
-It needed to be relatively light-weight (hence only armor on his calves, forearms, chest, and shoulders) which also allows for greater flexibility and agility
-Earthen tones for the most part (boots, leggings, straps, metal, etc) as dyes are common for richer persons (hence the only real colors are gifts from the elves, Brom, and other royalty).
Plus, I couldn't forget his connection to Saphira (his dragon), the gedwey ignasia, which is on his right palm (hence it isn't visible in the picture). And so, I added my visualization of it near the bottom next to his name.

Thanks! I didn't see the movie because I thought the visualizations of the characters seemed wrong.

I'm loving this guy.
You where really detailed in your book references and that's what makes it all the more impressive.
That left leg looks chicken esqe but I'd say you pulled it off. Unfortunately the pose is rather generic unlike some of your other stuff.
IMO now you should try other styles or/and media. I know thats what faggy art teachers say (that or draw left handed), but it works.

Thanks Spank!
And I know the stance is terribly generic, but for the competition I try to use such stances in order for the entire design to be visible. (Plus I never can seem to get certain poses/actions to look right.) I will definitely try in the future to change it up though.
Other styles or media, eh? You mean such as paint, pencils, markers, or say pastels?

yep yep your line art is very pronounced and clean, so mass it up a little. Try some art with just tones and no lines. Or if your feeling even more adventurous work on a wet surface. fun fun fun!
If your havening problems with poses I suggest you buy a drawing anatomy book ("draw the marvel way" is good) and draw a page of people in funny poses once a week. Personally I improved when I started doing 3d work, and stopped just drawing pirates in life drawing classes.

You know, I've always wanted to render something with simply tones and no lines. Unfortunately, I'm not so graceful with just a mouse. Maybe one day when I finally get a tablet.
And I definitely think I will get an anatomy drawing book. I definitely need it.
