Can someone tell me what adopts are used for? Are they just for wasting money on a drawing?

Adopts are used for making points on here.
People are buying the designs basically. c: There are many types of adopts though, like what I do: Preset adopts
Presets are skins for a game called Feral-heart and many people sell those as well. A few even sell them for real money (which points can be converted to via. commission widget)
