I don't understand the popularity of this series, can someone explain what exactly Touhou is? I know it was a Bullet Hell Shooter, that's about it.

Not only have people fallen for the games and their music, but each game offers a wide variety of characters with all sorts of personalities. It's grown so popular and fans love creating more indepth personalities to the characters, creating inside jokes within the fandom. Those inside the fandom share the love like a big family, from what I've seen. c:
Plus it's an all girl series (excluding one guy) and guys in Japan gobble that stuff up like cake. >u<
