The way I learnt was through reading tutorials on scratch spriting and doing a whole lot of practicing.

i did that but on paint it suked bad and thats the program ur ment to use it with the best sprite fusion ive ever done was with adobe and its crystacon clik me name and u will see it

I use MS paint to do mine too.
Have you tried making blobs of random colour for the different body parts. Then outlining them in black, and then getting rid of the colour?
That's what I usually do to make my outlines. I find it easier to get the right proportions that way.
