Random rough sketches of my characters Irene and Chainhinge. I'd imaging it would be tough for a soulless gargoyle to raise a human's child. To the gargoyles humans have always been nothing more than cattle to feed off of. (they view us the way we look at cows)

Irene didn't have a mother and was abused by her father. The only kindness she ever knew came from a man-eating monster. So she grows up rather cynical with a twisted view on love. To Chainhinge, Irene is the first human to not feel fear or hatred of his kind. ^_^

Chainhinge takes Irene under its care at about 5 yrs old. When she hits teens it tries to get her to try living amung the humans again but she's very reluctant. Since Irene was raised with humans dying constantly around her (a gargoyles gotta eat) she's been desensitised to human suffereing. She has no sympathy or caring for other people. She's used to watching people die, to her its normal. She learned to be cruel while the gargoyle learned to be kind. Chainhinge from raising a human's child became compassionate. It outlawed the consumption of good people.(much to the other gargoyles dismay cause now its harder to find a meal)

Gargoyles can sense what humans are feeling. When a person is full of malicious intent thats when a gargoyle will target them. When a human wants to do something mean or comit a crime gargoyles will be attracted to them like a mouse to cheese.
