Well, this was a hypothetical question about going with Korra to the SWT between books 3 and 4. I don't think there'd be reason to think they'd exchange a necklace that early in their relationship.
Also, this was kind of an inspiration for SimplyKorra's Recovery fic (and sequel, Relapse) so if you haven't read those, I HIGHLY recommend them!)
