Description
[[KIMBERLY CROSS IS AN OC I CREATED FOR MY BATMAN COMICS AND STORIES]]**SPOILERS**
Name: Kimberly (Kim) Cross
Occupation: Former special agent for the US government, she spent 2 years undercover at Arkham asylum before joining the Gotham City police department.
Date of Birth: October 31st
Hair: Straight, black hair. (She prefers longer hairstyles.)
Eyes: Light brown
Build: Kim exercises regularly and lives an active lifestyle. She has a thin and fairly muscular body and thus has a small bust size (which is one of the only things she's self-conscious about)
Height: 5'5”
Personality: Reserved, rational, and practical. Kim is a capable woman and can succeed at just about anything she puts her mind to. Extremely loyal and protective of people she loves (of which there aren't many) and, at times, can be surprisingly sentimental. She's quiet, but not shy, and is confident in her abilities. She believes actions tend to speak louder than words. Kim is a very private person. She's especially secretive when it comes to her past, partially because most of it is classified but mostly because she legitimately doesn't like to talk about it. Due to the interesting life she's lived; Kim is a hard person to shock and tends to take most situations she's in with stride. While generally known to be a serious person, Kim has a dry and sarcastic sense of humor. She can also be stingy, ruthless, judgmental, a bit of a perfectionist, and has always had a hard time expressing her feelings. (Especially affection)
(Personality Type: ISTJ “The Duty Fulfiller”)
Weapons of choice: While Kim usually carries a handgun, she actually prefers to punch and kick things rather than attacking someone with a weapon. (Especially kicking things.)
Skills: Kim is a trained fighter, specializing in Judo and kick-boxing. She was trained to be able to stay collected and adapt to her situation, as well as handle a large variety of weapons. Kim is a very skilled actress and excels in undercover work. Kim is also an excellent gymnast with quick reflexes.
Powers: While not retaining any superhuman abilities she was given special drugs during her teenage years and early 20s that would enhance her durability. In other words; she can take a beating.
Weaknesses: Being a normal human being she can be shot, poisoned, stabbed, etc, etc. Also as a woman, she has less physical strength then the thugs she deals with on a daily basis. She also has a hard time going to others for help, even when she's in deeply over her head. She tends to barge in head first, even when she knows she shouldn't, and is very headstrong.
Fears/Insecurities: Her experience in Arkham has given her a fear of being trapped in dark, cramped places. Being in such places can trigger a panic attack. Her relationship with her parents also causes her distress. When they were alive she loved them deeply, after they died and were ousted as criminals Kim was abused due to their actions and she eventually grew to hate them. Her mixed feelings toward her parents as well as the rogues of Gotham City, some of whom she actually grew to like, has caused her to question her own motives several times. She hates and fears being considered a criminal.
Kim doesn't like public speaking or being the center of attention in a large crowd. She prefers to be in control of the situation from the background.
Family:
Diane and Andrew Cross: Kim's mother and father. They adored their daughter and spoiled her rotten with their ill-gotten gains from their criminal lives. Diane was always very serious and headstrong, while Andrew was more thoughtful and a bit of a pushover. They both came from poorer families and knew each other since childhood. Both of them died in a botched bank robbery when Kim was about seven years old.
Jack and Trudy Cross: Kim's aunt and uncle. After Kim's parents died in a failed robbery she was sent to live with her Uncle Jack and Aunt Trudy. Jack was Andrew's younger brother and, like his brother, a complete pushover when it came to his wife. This fact did not help due to the fact that Trudy treated Kim very poorly. As they treated Kim like a criminal, Kim began to act like one. When a strange man from the government came and offered to take Kim away to, what they were lead to believe, was a military school Trudy readily agreed. This has left Kim's relationship with her aunt and uncle estranged, to say the least.
Wendy Cross: Kim's much younger cousin, whom Kim actually considers to be more of a sister. Wendy idolizes Kim and thinks she's the coolest.
Friends/Acquaintances:
Mr. P (Pishchalnikov): A government agent that specializes in training soldiers equipped for handling the 'Supervillain epidemic'. These soldiers are trained for many different jobs ranging from assassination, infiltration, and everything in between. His accomplishments in the field allowed him to have free reign over how he got the job done, no matter how extreme. He chose to target wards of the state, children from messed up families that no one would miss if they never came home again. He convinced them that they were worthless without him and that he alone could give them purpose. He took these wayward children to turn them into his own personal army, who would kill or die for him at his order. Kim was one of the kids he found and took 'under his wing’; however, she didn't quite turn out like he wanted. For this, he hates her and she hates him in equal measure. Unfortunately, Kim fears him far more then she hates him.
Lillian Rues: If asked, Kim would reply that she met Lilly in 'college'. Technically, that is true. Though neither of them was attending the college they met at... or rather, under. Kim met Lilly while still working for the government. Kim was infiltrating a cult that had set up shop under the college. At the same time, Lilly was stealing their mystic artifacts. The two ended up helping each other escape and each saved the others life.
Lilly tracked Kim down afterward and the two agreed to be friends as long as there were no questions asked. Lilly wouldn't ask Kim about what she was doing trying to infiltrate a doomsday cult and Kim wouldn't ask about the rare items that went 'missing' that night. Their relationship is based on keeping secrets from one another. Lilly has a deep affection for Kim; however, Kim does not feel the same way and sees her as a good friend... her best friend even.
Annie Richards: Annie was one of Kim's only friends after her parents died and she went to live with her aunt and uncle. Annie came from a rich family and rebelled against her overprotective father by hanging out with troublemakers like Kim. Despite their situations, the two were very close friends until Kim was forced to leave. Now she’s left her home and been cut off by her father, she’s now living with Kim while looking for a job.
Emmett Heiney: After Kim was allowed to leave the special forces Kim chose to become a police officer. She was overqualified for the position. She met Emmett in the academy and the two have developed a camaraderie, of sorts. Emmett respects Kim's abilities and Kim takes it upon herself to look out for Emmett.
Aster Briggs: A strange woman who works in the morgue who few people want to associate with. Kim wasn't intimidated by her strangeness and spends most of their time taking shots at one another to pass the time.
Dr. Franklin Miller: During Kim's time undercover at Arkham Asylum he served as her doctor. Partially for cover but he also worked as a way to track any mental deterioration that might occur. As it turned out he had been taking bribes from the inmates and when Kim figured it out, he sold out her true identity to save his own hide. Not that he was much of a pleasure to talk to before. Kim always found him to be a bit of a creep and never really trusted him.
Harleen Quinzel aka Harley Quinn: Kim spent two years undercover in Arkham asylum, during that time she actually developed affection towards certain members of the rogues gallery, such as Harley, whose bubbly personality is hard to dislike. Despite learning Kim's true identity and trying to murder her, the two have developed a strange quasi-friendship.
Arnold Wesker Formerly the Ventriloquist: While in Arkham Asylum there were two inmates that gave her the most grief. One of them was Wesker. While Arnold was always nice and apologetic, Scarface went out of his way to harass her. Now that Wesker has been released from Arkham Asylum Kim has made an effort to be kind to him, in hopes he'll stay that way.
Edward Nygma ‘Formerly’the Riddler: Kim's relationship with Edward Nygma is an odd one. Like the others, Kim first met Edward while pretending to be someone else in order to spy on him. Unlike the others, however, he figured her out right away. Rather than tell the others of the traitor in their midst Nygma decided to sit back and watch it play out, as Arkham could be a very boring place. Kim was discovered after two years of undercover work at Arkham and was beaten, poisoned, and left to die a slow painful death. She most certainly would have died if not for a clue left behind by the Riddler as to where her location was.
Edward would actually reform and become a private detective while Kim would join the GCPD. While Kim has developed romantic feelings towards him, she's not naive enough to believe he could ever love her back in any meaningful, long-term way. Even if he did have some kind of affection towards her; Kim knows he'll eventually go back to crime no matter what she does. While this can frustrate her she can't help but enjoy working with him and interacting with him. At the same time, she wants to distance herself from a relationship she knows cannot end well but just can't seem to do it.
Good Guys:
Commissioner Gordon: Kim has a lot of respect for Gordon and while Gordon is a bit weary of the secrecy behind Kim, as far as her involvement with the government, he does see her as a competent and, overall, trustworthy officer.
Detective Renee Montoya: While believing in Commissioner Gordon's judgment Montoya is very suspicious of Kimberly due to her connection to the government. She suspects Kim having been formerly a black ops group and questions why someone like that would choose to become a police officer in (what has been described as) one of the most corrupt cities in America.
Detective Harvey Bullock: Harvey Bullock is the most suspicious of Kim but not for reason Montoya is. For Bullock, it's her connection to the 'freaks' of Gotham City. This suspicion of her only increased as Kim started associating with the newly 'reformed' Edward Nymga. His, well deserved, disdain for the rogues gallery makes him very critical and distrusting of Kim.
Batman: Batman keeps a close eye in Arkham Asylum, with good reason. Also being the world's greatest detective he quickly realized Kim wasn't who she said she was. The two crossed paths a few times over the years Kim spent undercover in Arkham and rescued her when the rogues turned on her, poisoned her, then left her to die in the catacombs under Arkham. (With a little help.)
Bad guys:
Identity Unknown aka the Joker: When Joker returned to his home, sweet home, he was surprised to see a new face. When he learned that there were rumors of a snitch or spy he suspected her at once, despite Harley's vote of confidence. So Joker set up a game. He would break out (again) start a riot in Arkham (again) and then take some hapless hostages (again). Then make 'Julie Bennett' kill the hostages. Any well-meaning police officer could never kill so many people in cold blood without giving themselves away, he reasoned. Of course, things got a little off track when Batman showed up earlier than expected. So, he ordered Kim to shoot Batman the moment he went to save the hostages. Which she did. Batman wasn't hurt, of course, and took Kim down with little effort. However, Harley's testimony of Julie's actions was enough to assuage Joker.
From that moment on Kim was just another toy, like all the other doctors, nurses, and inmates in Arkham. A toy he could mock, ignore, or abuse at his liking. Of course when Kim was revealed as a spy he took it upon himself to teach her a lesson... through torture and a slow death. Of course, she survived to be played with another day.
Harvey Dent aka Two Face: Of all the rogues in Gotham, it was Two Face who hated Kim the most. He pegged her as a 'snitch' early on. However Two Face, being his paranoid self, no one really took him seriously. With no real proof other than a 'gut feeling' Two Face went out of his way to make her life miserable. When Kim was ousted he took the greatest pride in teaching her what happens to spies.
Jonathan Crane aka the Scarecrow: While Kim was in Arkham Jonathan Crane saw her as little more than an annoyance, besides that he didn't take any notice of her. After she was ousted as a spy he took a great amount of pleasure when he and the other rogues beat her and left her to die... but not before he'd had his fun poisoning her with his fear toxin. The only problem was that he didn't have the time to really break her sanity and bring her greatest fears to light. But, thanks to Batman, Kim survived and there's always next time.
Pamela Isley aka Poison Ivy: Like Crane, Ivy never gave Kim much thought. At most, she tolerated her presence because Harley took a liking to her. Their relationship actually hasn't changed much; even now that Kim has joined the GCPD, as Harley is still very friendly with Kim (Criminal activities aside). However just because Harley still likes Kim doesn't mean Ivy won’t try to kill her along with Batman and the rest of the boys in blue.
