Bro, I do all that in notes. Have no fear, I never just say "ok lets start". I like planning a bit before hand and for me, it's a must to talk about each other's characters so we know if they're compatible for the same roleplay plot we decide.

The flow becomes much quicker when you can somehow predict how one is going to act in a certain way. It becomes more enjoyable to say three least.
