Wow. WOWWWW.
I really wish I had words to describe how much I love this, but anything I could possibly say would not do this work justice in the least.
GREAT fucking idea, and great skill! Honestly I wouldn't have known this was traditional if I didn't look at the category. It's so polished!
Beautyfullllll

Yeah, it's very graphic so it probably could have been done digitally, but then I couldn't show or sell it in a gallery. Plus I like painting more than being on the computer. I'm really happy with this painting, so I'm glad you like it too.

I'm super glad you decided to do it traditionally rather than digitally. I mean, I like digital and all, but there's something about traditional that just makes me... care more, or something. I don't think I would appreciate the effort you put into this as much, if it had been digital.

Mate, that's awsome! You have an amazing style, man. Who are your favorite artists?

Thanks, I'd say that most of my favorite artists are either from the art nouveau/arts and crafts movement, it's my favorite artistic era, or from comics. Mucha and Klimpt, also Mike Mignola, Sam Weber, Travis Charest, Mcbess is awesome, Jeff Soto. The hardest thing is that I've been refraining from looking at any of these artists so they don't influence me. It's been helping me develop my own style.

Funny, I was talking about Jeff Soto to another girl on DA these days. He's awsome. Cool to see that you like his work, since yours is very neat and precise. I'm still looking for my own style, I guess. Acctually, I would like to have all the styles in the world. Haha.

What I can tell you is that you need to look inward to find your voice. I used to want to have all the styles in the world, so my art was all over the place based on who I was inspired by. You can't find your style from looking at others is what I found out. I like Jeff Soto, but I've managed to not reflect that in my work, so it's all good

Jeremy-Forson In reply to MisterISK [2009-10-03 19:54:24 +0000 UTC]
Elephant wood panels. Light sanding, 2 coats liquitex matte medium, another light sanding. That's it! I don't use any gesso.

Wow, I can't believe it's on a canvas. The zoomify link was incredible, what an amazing thing to do

Jeremy-Forson In reply to Katazap [2009-10-03 06:37:24 +0000 UTC]
I'm pretty big on zoomify. I think if you do a lot of details, it's good to have a way for people to see them. Also, you can see how messy it is up close, an important part of any painting lol

Katazap In reply to Jeremy-Forson [2009-10-03 19:13:51 +0000 UTC]
It's also proof it's REAL and actually you can paint something like that if you pay enough attention to details, and have lots of patience
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
Jeremy-Forson In reply to Katazap [2009-10-03 19:57:47 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, definitely a lot of patience. I've been trying to improve my "level of finish" lately, so it's taking me much longer to complete paintings, and being patient is something that I've only recently been able to do. It's a skill you have to acquire I suppose, but my paintings are getting much better because of it.
