My contest entry.Gah! I've questioned upping this because after I got halfway into it I realized it may not make sense to many people. This is why I'm an artist and not a writer.
Well, I argued with myself over it long enough to put a real delay on my productivity, but I finally said screw it and decided since I've put this much time into it already and I'm wasting more debating it I might as well. I'll go on to color this, but again it feels like a bit of a waste when the damn thing might not work. Grrrr, I'm babbling, but I'd appreciate opinions or critiques please.Oh! In case any of you eagle-eyed old farts find yourself recognizing this it's because it was inspired by the spar that Sonic and Sally had at the beginning of Sally Quest waaayyyyyy back in the yesteryears of the comic.

I imagine him quite a bit like Spiderman. If it weren't for his special abilities he wouldn't be nearly as "ninja" as he is. Sally would take him apart.

The way you laid out the panels on this is pretty great, really attention-grabbing. Though when you started getting the arrows involved I had trouble following it for a minute.

Yeah, it played out better in my head when I initially designed it, but as I fleshed it out I realized the flow was a little ambiguous. Arrows were about all I really had to fall back on save redesigning the whole layout. Hope it wasn't too confusing.

This scene is absolutely brilliant.
It reads fine to me, and it manages to maintain a lot of the snark Sonic & Sally had in SatAM that made them such an interesting pairing. Love all the battle poses as well, these two training together just looks so great.

I always liked the competitive aspect to their relationship back then, essentially always trying to one-up or out-wit the other. "Snark" is the perfect word for it.

That was actually a bit of a worry for me. I ended up putting the arrows in there because I wasn't sure if the flow was too obvious... but if it works for you it definitely works for me.
