1997. Softimage 3.51I did some work a while back for a video game called Riven: The Sequel to Myst. You might remember it. This is a shot that I rendered at high res that never appeared in the game.

whoa, you worked on Riven? This is one of my favorite games ever.... mainly because of the scenery and all the different looks for the different islands... in fact this was one of my favorite spots, especially when those animals came out onto the rocks.... I have always wished I could work on something like this and create worlds like this. Riven was a sort of inspiration for what I do now...... (sorry for this long comment, but I just thought it was really cool taht you worked on this.... I thought this was just a screen shot that a random person put up)

This is absolutely amazing. The detail, and... Everything, its just so wonderful. This picture reall evokes some strong emotion in me. I love the Myst series more than any other game! I used to spend my time as a child figuring out the puzzles when my father was stuck. The series is spectacular, Riven was no exception! *sigh* I hate to admit that I never did finish "Myst: End of Ages"... I seem to have been tossed by the proverbial horse, and you have inspired me to get back on it my friend!

I love Riven. I always thought they (and that means you) really nailed down the sunlight, which many games fail on. They just up the brightness, whereas Riven made it feel warm and dry, with crisp shadows.

I lived that game, all the Myst games- and books- actually. This is a beautiful piece. Could have sworn I saw it in the game, but guess not. Now I wanna play that game again! ^_^

it does appear in the game. I have the entire series. Its towards the beginning of the game, it takes a little work to get to. As soon as I saw this I remembered it in Riven. Beautiful work.

what he means is this particular picture didn't make it, not the actual location, the myst games are basically slideshows so each picture is separate.

Riven was (and still is^^) beautyful... graphics, music, atmosphere... like no other game.
*sigh* I wish there would be a remake in higher resolution, to enjoy it's full details on actuall PCs
