A photo of the sunrise through a heavily frosted window. I love how the light is diffracted by the ice.Digital. Canon 350D.

hehe diffraction is when wavelenghts 'bends' (when light is passing through a small space blocked by obstacles). but the effect you got is 'refraction' when wavelengths change speed... when it travels through different medium, like in this case, it travelled from air to ice, then to glass i guess... therefore, the light gets 'diffused' ^_^". the difference of this is passing through 'small space blocked by obstacles' and passing through 'medium'...

That reminds me on my childhood. We had old windows in our sleeping room with just thin glass. Every winter those frosty patterns grew all over the window. Here in Germany this phenomenon is called "Eisblumen" (ice flowers) due to the floral patterns. It looks just wonderful!
