Description
Jin was insecurity incarnate. Having been raised in a very strict environment with less-than-accepting parents had left her very shy and given her a terrible opinion of herself. She never noticed how many eyes were on her since she was too busy averting her own, and having her inbox flooded by hopeful suitors every February struck her as some sort of sick joke. While she was well off lifestyle-wise, it seemed that poor Jin would never be able to accept herself. One day, a box appeared on Jin's doorstep. She had not ordered anything and did not know anyone who would want to send her anything. Bringing it inside and setting it down on her living room rug, Jin cut open the box to find a very skimpy chemise. Underneath it was a note which read, "This should complement your looks," in handwriting she could not recognize.
Jin decided that it must have been some sort of mistake. She would never dream of wearing something so revealing, especially not in public. Even on the off-chance that this was the work of a perverted neighbour, Jin had blackout curtains for a reason. She turned the box over, hoping to find a return address. Nothing. She turned over the note. "Yes, Jin, this is for you." This only made her even more paranoid. Without a second thought, Jin threw the chemise in the trash.
The next morning, Jin went to her closet to pick one of her many conservative outfits to wear. As she blindly sifted through the closet, she felt something soft and silky amongst an ocean of boring fabric. She seized it and pulled it out, confused but interested. It was the chemise, miraculously returned from the trash and none the worse for wear. Jin dropped it to the floor, stunned. Was someone gaslighting her? She thought about calling the police, but realized that she would probably be laughed off.
Lost in thought, Jin was very startled to hear a voice. It sounded very echoey and distant, almost ethereal. As she looked around, trying to figure out where it was coming from, it became more comprehensible. "Try it on, Jin. You'll feel beautiful." She would normally have panicked, but there was something remarkably calming about this voice. Jin floated away into an unquestioning fugue, calmly removing her nightgown and slipping the chemise on. Resisting the voice's commands failed to even cross her mind until it was already too late. The chemise had adhered to her skin, and no matter how she struggled, she could not remove it. Terrified, she ran to her bathroom and stood in front of her mirror, trying to figure out a way to get it off.
"I'm glad you have a mirror handy. I want you to see my work as I do it."
Jin tried to interject but was suddenly distracted as all of her teeth fell out of her open mouth, clattering on the tile floor. Hysterical, she fell to her knees and tried to gather them back up, but they crumbled to powder in her hands. She looked up to see the reflection of her toothless mouth only to be again shocked as her nose began to widen and split in two with a quiet "pop". Jin screamed and covered her face as flesh stretched, bones cracked, and blood leaked from her mouth in a bout of agonizing pain which lasted for what felt like ages.
And then, suddenly, the pain stopped and Jin felt fine. Both of her did. The two of them, sharing a body from the neck down, could only stare at each other in wonder. "This is what I look like?" said the Jin on the left. "Why am I so insecure when I look like this?" replied the Jin on the right.
The voice returned. "Well, that was horrifying. Sorry about the... traumatic transformation. This is my first time transmogrifying mortals, so bear with me. Before the shock sets in, it's best if I tell you that your current arrangement is only as permanent as you want it to be. The fabric of the chemise transforms you whenever you wear it. Once it's off, just eat a banana and you'll revert back into a normal woman."
"Oh. That's handy," said the Jin on the left. "I really like this actually. You're so pretty!" said the Jin on the right, smiling and rubbing her cheek against that of her twin. The Jin on the left, startled to hear this from, well, herself, found herself feeling the same way towards her bodymate and returned the gesture.
"I see that my attempt to rid you of your insecurity is working flawlessly," said the voice. "I'll leave you to it. Have fun." And with that, neither Jin ever ate bananas again.
so yeah, i'm back. been working on things behind the scenes for several days now. more coming. please let me know what you think!

real talk though, I like the lighter tone, and how the transformation is a solution rather than a problem, or at least that it's a solution on a personal level rather than a way to be trendy and hip.

I'd assume the former. Β 'Course, this doesn't even remotely matter if Jin didn't particularly care for Bananas in the first place

also, do they keep their former name, or do they take separate ones? Β Or do they consider themselves a singular two-headed woman, like Satomi? Β Sorry If I'm asking too much.
