Back in my days in the art department at Warner Bros Consumer Products, I experimented with a cartoon style that effectively made it easy to caricature some of my favorite co-workers. I had never done caricature before, beyond the crude stuff done in high school, so I pleasantly surprised everybody, including myself. Eventually, I applied this style to the 1960s Batman and Robin from television. The overall concept was basically to be a comic strip called, "Grenades," implying that sometimes there would be an underlying level of subtler humor which the observer would only register later on, much like the delayed explosion yielded by a grenade. The name was inspired by a friend's description of the sly jokes I would make in mixed conversation. Ahh... Fond memories...
