Description
Long ago, during the darker ages of man, a group of individuals longed for enlightenment. For access to knowledge beyond what little their libraries contained. For a life better than the one most of them tended to live. Free from the reign of the church and its administration over all, and of the King's questioning influence. They wanted so much more than what could be offered. One day, their dreams were fulfilled.A brilliant light from the heavens crashed down close to their primary encampment. From this light came forth entities with strange, morphing bodies of flesh, beyond anything that could seem human. Among the people came forth one who approached and spoke to the Visitors, and learned of their greater intelligence. From the Visitors, this group learned much knowledge about the existence of life and realms beyond Earth, and many other things. But it was the strange bodies the Visitors had that intrigued them the most. After the Visitors left, they sought to replicate the power these creatures had: to morph theirs and others bodies in any way they can imagine. And to do this, they turned to an art that hasn't been touched in centuries. Magic.
In time, they discovered and created many spells, which they recorded into a single tome. From this collection of spells, they carried out all sorts of experiments involving the transformation of the human body. From simply giving someone a fine layer of fur, to full animal transformations, to even reshaping someone's being into an inanimate object. The fascination, the excitement, the wonder of it all began to fill the group, the Followers Under Unity, with pride, power, and determination. They were few and small before. But now, they had a means to make their dreams come true. They were going to tear down the pathetic faculties and establishments of the church, the king, and their loyal servants, and show the world what true power and freedom looks like.
They will set things right, no matter the cost or how people see them. From those who came from above, they know what is better for humanity.

The Leader of the evil cult from mine and 's FUU Story, Pureforged. I was originally going to finish up a pin-up sketch I made of them, but I felt it wasn't grand enough. So I decided to "paint" another picture in a similar vein to The Master I did at the start of the year~

I like the implied slide into extremism here.
Really, "anyone" has the capacity to do really bad things, and find ways to justify themselves for it. (In my opinion, that's what most Action Movie heroes do)
Whatever one's motivations or actions become, they almost always have roots in some desire to make things better. For themselves, for their people, for their nation, for everyone- nearly every horrible thing began as a "good idea." And this update really gives the impression of that for the Cultist. Especially given that the other stories implied that due to personal values, religious laws, or just fear of change- the rest of the world fought back.
Having a rival in anything is bound to escalate! >:3

As much fun as it could have been trying to create them to be a purely evil force, I felt that they should really be fleshed out in a more realistic manner. A group of people with intentions which are a bit at odds with how things are, but believe that they will make things better for everyone. However, in their quest to find the means to do so, end up dipping into darker ways, exploring dangerous magics and conducting experiments for greater knowledge and more tools for them to use as they make the world better by how they see fit.
I was also trying to style them as a sort of fantasy version of Inkblot's Synthex. Throughout their history, they also believed that their work was going to better humanity, but their methods of going about it are questionable if not downright evil as well. Since Pureforged is shared between him and I, I thought it would be a neat little nod toward that group of his~ ^^

The art of transformation could be extremely useful for the world.
Right off the bat, melding muscle and bone to increase the strength of manual labourers. Mutating people into animals or animal forms to have all the benefit of beasts but with the intelligence of a person. Removing the independence of truly dangerous people without having to use as much space or resources to contain them. Not to mention transformation into objects is effectively a form of immortality.
All it takes is one bad event to send things from "great potential" to catastrophe!!!

Hoo hoo! You know not of who they individually are or where they've come from. Empowered by dark magics, they are not to be trifled with. o.o

I really like this backstory you gave them. For what's supposed to be an "evil cult", their motivations are a good deal more sympathetic than I expected. This doesn't read like a bunch of assholes just trying to take over the world. This reads like a group of people distraught over this feudal world and seeking to "improve" it through this "enlightenment".
The picture's great, too. I love how dark it is, the highlighting making it look like they all have these auras. Quite ominous indeed.

While we could have worked in a more standard "evil cult" sort of thing, I kinda wanted to add some 3-dimensionality and volume to them. That they may of had a better goal in mind for the world, but with the power and abilities they have acquired, they've slowly been corrupted and dipped down into the darker way of things in order to properly carry out their plans. What sympathetic plans they may of had before is quite questionable now.
Thanks! ^^ I wanted everyone to stand out from one another, as with the flat colours they sort of blended into each other. So I included the auras in for that, as well as to make them appear more ominous and filled with energy~

Honestly, reading what you and Ink were initially saying about the "evil cult", I initially figured it was going to be very generic. However, I didn't want to say anything to throw you guys off, and since the focus of Pureforged is supposed to be on the people-to-weapon/armor transformations it wasn't a major issue anyway. So the extra dimension you've given them here is very welcome.
