Description What's a "Multi-Layer Layer Style"?
In method, it is the action of repeating the exact same blank shape layer over and over with new styles placed on each to create one combined spell-bounding effect. This is usually an Intermediate to Advanced photoshop design technique. Multi-layer styles can create stunning effects for virtually anything from UI to Text elements. I've presented these here in only a few finals for the sake of beginners moving into a new level of Blending Options understanding. Please explore them freely, and be sure to examine every aspect of each Blending Option to see how they were created!

Because I believe in hands-on learning for beginners, this file
does not contain a .ASL filetype. Rather it's a full .PSD with the
LayerStyles on their own layer. I will not update this to include
one. Please do feel free to save them yourself however you like.

This resource is meant to be free.

You're welcome to use this in any way you see fit, for any
project commercial or otherwise... with the single
exception of selling these styles as styles. I would
appreciate it immensely if you respected the philanthropy
of this contribution to other artists.

Enjoy!

LOL!!! Yes, they're quite the challenge aren't they??

Ideally it's here to illustrate how a person can continue to design an plain element by piling layer styles on top of one another. So if you look at the first layer in each folder as the "Base", each successive layer has a new Layer Style added on top to enhance the previous. It's really essential to have an intermediate understanding of layer Blending Options in order to begin understanding how the "outside the box" use of each option was implemented. Practically speaking, they're not worth a damn. Maybe for super hi-res text or minor design elements something... but really... what could you use these for? So yeah, my purpose was about your learning your blending options and what things you could create without using anything but a solid white circle.

For me personally, I tend to use my Blending Options less for basic method applications. I got really bored looking at other people's layer styles and thought "there has to be more I can be doing with these than just click once and done!". Now I approach them as tools for quickly enhancing existing elements I that might otherwise labor over by hand. When I look at them in that way, I'm able to see options like "Bevel and Emboss" and "Satin" as new ways to light or otherwise affect an object. That sort of insight allows for things like this Layer Insanity Styles, where I can add in specific Style elements without feeling restricted to the basics.

You guys deserve them!

Regardless of the medium, an artist is only as good as his talent and resources. With talent comes practice, so if I can get you guys good resources... that's half the battle right there, then it's just a matter of learning/practicing. Really is an all inclusive effort to help.

Enjoy!

lol! very cool of you to give it a try. And no, it's not sacrilegious at all. If your imagination is sparked, that's truly what's important.

It will definitely take some serious sit-down time if you're new to photoshop, but it is indeed a great learning experience. Hope you enjoy!
