Description
This is a collage that I made of the tributes. The number indicates the tribute's age, not their district (which should be obvious). If I made a mistake, let me know.
Also, I edited each and every person's picture. This collage took me 2 hours.. :/
Hope you like it.
---------------------------------------------------
In the movie Haymitch can be quoted saying that the career tributes are trained basically from birth, until they are 18. But, that does not mean they go into the games at 18.
In the Hunger Games, only kids from 12-18 are allowed to participate, which is why they stop training at 18, because if they haven't already been into the Hunger Games by the age of 18, they wont be in the games at all.
Most of you mistake Haymitch saying that, as proof that Cato is 18 but you also mistook what Haymitch was trying to say.
In the book The Hunger Games Tribute Guide, it shows some of the tributes names, ages, and heights.
For Cato it does in fact state that he is 16, and not 18.
Although the book was written by Emily Seife and not Suzannne Collins, all information was confirmed by Suzanned Collins, plus she also added her own things in their as well.

Wow, really? I am sorry for argueing with you. It's good to know the truth though.
I thought about it a bit and my friend helped me out with this, and I think that the reason why it says in the movie that they train until they are eighteen is not because once they turn eighteen they volunteer, but it may be because they volunteer when they feel they are ready (or they get picked) and they only train up until they are 18 because if they aren't in the games by the time they are 18, then they aren't eligible to participate after that.

I am not exactly sure, but it is believed to be 17 on quite a few websites that I seen. And yes, he is quite Marvelous.

Cato is definately 16, about 20 sites including the official websites, and it's the same with Thresh. I got all their ages from one of the official sites.

Well, if you read the books you would know he's originally 18, but i feel like Cato looks older than 16 in the movie, they could've at least made him appear more youthful.

I did read the books, and don't remember it EVER saying he was 18. Even the book site said 16.. :/ And I thought he looked 16 in the movies, just a fit 16 year old.

I was sure he was 18, but anyway, he appears older than 16 in the movie in my opinion and I beleive he's 18.

I agree with you Sweetle. Careers are by definition people who wait until they're 18 to volunteer for the Games.

I at first had trouble recognizing them all because the movie went by so fast, and I seen the movie twice. Which is the reason I started doing research on them.
Yeah, that's pretty crazy that she is only twelve. I think that is one of the reason Katniss was so close with her, since it reminded her that Prim would have been just like Rue in the games but maybe not as made it so far. I wish it showed more of the reason why Rue lasted so long (her talent), would have been pretty cool to see.

i can't believe marvel (was it?) killed rue with that spear...it was so sad when she died! :*(
i was with friends in the movie theater, and then i started crying...they asked what was wrong ;

Ahha, wow. I oddly enough didn't cry, but I think it's because It was somewhat beautiful how Katniss handled the situation.
And yes, it was Marvel was the name of the guy who killed Rue, but atleast he was killed as well.

yup! it was like *katniss comes to the rescue* and then *marvel stabs rue in the stomach with his spear* and then *katniss (i think) shoots an arrow* and then *marvel dies* It was going all fast! >///<

jessieiii In reply to zyshi [2012-04-05 05:59:31 +0000 UTC]
The male seventeen year old in row three is the male tribute from district 8.
In the movie he was seen getting knocked out by Thresh with a backpack.
After the end of the blood bath, he is shown with a slit throat.
He isn't given a name in the movie, and the person who played him was Samuel Tan.
Did that answer your question?
