Description
You wake up in a box. Really, it was the sound of it stopping that woke you up, but you know, whatever. The doors above you creak open, and you shield your eyes against the sudden brightness.
When the glare dies down, you see that you are surrounded. In shock, you stand and back up against the wall. Upon closer inspection, she realizes that the people surrounding her are all boys. One of them jumps down into the box with me- one with sandy blonde hair- and takes a hesitant step towards you. You tense and stare him down. Bad idea. You nearly drown in his dark brown eyes. He puts his hands up to show that he didn’t have anything, but oddly enough, you knew that someone could still do a massive amount of damage with just their hands. Your steely (e/c) glare flicked from his face to his hands, your mind debating on whether to trust him.
Then he spoke, his voice thick with an odd accent, “We’re not going to hurt you. My name’s Newt. These here are the Gladers,” He gestures behind him to the rest of the boys. Your eyes flick over their faces as you slowly peel yourself away from the wall of the box. Newt’s face breaks into a grin. He climbs out with ease then offers you his hand, “Gettin’ out is harder than it looks, greenie.”
Hesitantly, you take his hand and he pulls you out. You stay still for a moment before you bolt without warning towards the only place that might give you cover: the woods. You don’t look back. You just run. And run. You run like you were born to do it. When you hit the tree line, it doesn’t even faze you. You just keep running, regardless of the twigs and branches slapping your arms and face. You don’t notice that someone was chasing you until you stop in a small clearing to catch your breath, your hands on your knees.
“Screw it,” You think to yourself. You push your (h/l) (h/c) hair back behind your ears and straighten, ready to face whoever had chased you. You weren’t surprised to see Newt crash into the clearing, then lean against a tree to catch his breath. You cross your arms as you wait for him to talk.
After panting for a little bit, he manages to say, “You’re fast. Faster than me. And I’m pretty fast. How are you that fast, greenie?” He looks at you with those dark brown eyes of his.
You stare back for a minute, then reply in a cold voice, “My name isn’t greenie.”
“Then pray tell. What is it?”
You think for a moment, then say the name that pulsed through your head as you ran, “(y/n).”
Newt nods, “Alrighty, then. (y/n) it is.”
After a little bit, Newt pushes himself away from the tree. He studies you for a moment, then says, “Look, I know that being tossed in here with a bunch of boys is a little traumatizing. I get that. Just come back tomorrow, Okay?”
You hesitate before responding, “Okay, lizard. Will do.”
“Good that,” Newt nods curtly and left you alone.
Sighing, you sat down and let it sink in. You were stuck here. With a bunch of boys that you didn't know. You were probably never going to get out. But oddly enough, you didn’t care. Not immensely, anyway. You could take care of yourself, right?
With a final sigh, you lay down, pulling your cream colored hoodie around your shoulders for warmth and surrendered yourself to unconsciousness.

Time skip~ Next morning

You stand at the tree line, picking at the hem of your (f/c) tanktop. You hadn’t slept well last night. The clanking of the world outside those massive stone wall kept you up, not to mention the shrieks of whatever was out there. You look over the mass of people milling about, searching for one face in particular: Newt. So far, he was the only one you even remotely trusted.
But you couldn't find him.
“Screw the world,” You mutter under your breath. You take a deep breath and march down to the main camp. Time to be bold.
