Just a quick doodle from my sketchbook today!silvanoir is teaching me all about whats in the DC comic verse. What the lanterns are, why Bruce Wayne is a pirate, how many times Raven has been taken over by demons, etc. I bought my first TT graphic novel because of her!
Well, all the comic talk got me to thinking
I never draw Virgil and Richie being comic nerds!
So I fixed that

I have no question as to why the woman who hired you loved this one the best. Did she think one of them was a girl, though? Everyone always thinks one of them is a girl when I doodle them or something. Unless it's someone I know won't freak out (or a teenager, cause I love when they freak) I leave it alone and nod.
But I did noticed Richie has no texture on his skin.

I love them bein' comic nerds! They so cute! Just being together. It's a nice change to MAKEOUTSEXYTIEMS! Of course, there is NOTHING wrong with that.

I HAVE NO CLUE. i didnt ask if she knew that they were both boys, or that this was fanart, or ANYTHING. I just smiled and nodded. no need to freak out my clients with my weird tendencies
well, originally the texture was on his skin, but it stuck out way too much, so i just erased certain parts.
virgil is listening to....digital love by daft punk
it makes him think of his boyfriend and yeah, as much as I like drawing them making out, its nice to just draw them during buddy buddy time

Haha. I would have been so tempted to ask "why". It's hard to mistake either of these two for girls in this.

My goodness, this is just made of adorable! I love how they are just very casually holding hands, neither trying to studiously have a certain distance between themselves or climbing all over each other, but just sort of... being there, comfortably. Also, LOL at Richie bringing a regular book with him on a comic run! Then again, I've been known to occasionally read a paperback while eating lunch or dinner at a restaurant (but only when dining alone somewhere casual or fast-food-ish or whatever). Hm... I think the positioning of his feet, though, might look slightly more natural if they were rotated perhaps twenty or thirty degrees in the direction of the viewer. And you could maybe use just a smidgen more shading in Virgil's hair, to show the separation of his dreads better... though that could just be the contrast on my monitor. But it's a lovely piece overall, both in terms of composition and content!

also, fhdjskfhdfhsjkf people have told me about the legs, and i do NOT know what I was thinking, pointing them in the opposite direction. I feel dumb.

He is an ultra nerd, yes! And as for the legs... well, it's not like it's a physically impossible pose or anything (and I've seen physically impossible poses in actual published comics by professional artists), it's just that it would likely get uncomfortable after a while unless he's double jointed in his left ankle or something. I'm pretty sure of this, because I was able to imitate his pose just fine, even if I wouldn't have been able to comfortably rotate my ankle any further in the opposite direction as my torso than that... Let's just say he's twitchy a little, and either moving his feet around or planning to swivel his upper body more towards Virgil momentarily. That works, I think! And Virgil's hair looks seriously difficult to draw well! I've yet to try it myself, but considering that I have difficulty with anything that isn't straight hair worn down turning out to my intended specifications when I draw... dreads are going to be a heck of a challenge whenever I do get around to it, so I certainly can't fault you particularly for going light on the shading to make them turn out looking relatively nice more easily! And I reiterate: cuuuute!!!

Love V's ripped jeans. I have a thing for ripped jeans. Yummy. It means Richie has access to V's knees and can play with the fabric and do little teasing strokes up the inside of the pant leg.

And to think I only got into DC comics a few years ago. I started with Teen Titans then branched out. I was very "huh, what's going on?" Comics have a language and culture all their own and its nice to find simple explanations, so I try to provide them to others.

Well the scans I sent you are NOT spoilers to the movie. They would take place after the movie but before the Teen Titans books I listed before. Basically it's 6 pages of how Jason finds out about Tim.
