Description
Hi guys.....
So I wanted to design a Viking style sword on the weekend....
I looked up some swords that were found and modelled a blade at 83 cm - a handle at 9 cm for the grip.
The design started of simple..... then... I got carried away...
The handle is made from two pieces of ebony wood with a riser ring to improve grip.
Viking style pommel is from the later period. Slight up swept angle rather that a straight T design.
The downward cross-guard is short and thick, ending in Wolf / Fenrir motifs. The ear points are low and far away from fingers to avoid contact.
The centre of the guard features a F rune which stands for Fenrir.
The tang from the short, broad blade travels the full length of the handle and is peened at the crown of the pommel.
The blade is etched with the name of the sword - FROSTBITE.
This is ornate for the Viking look - perhaps this is for an Jarl or King?
Thought you might like to see the piece...
Regards, Jet
