Hey, fantastic. This piece is finally finished.Watching my brother play his quest on KHII is what got me thinking, I should try to make some fan art of Sora's drive forms. I wanted to make them all and put them into one image of fantastical glory, but I'm really not sure I can pull that off.

I first drew this based off of watching Sora's final form in action, and taking "gesture drawing"-type sketches of it.
In order to get the details right, I referred to images of the (keyblades and final form) that can be found online: [link]

sketched, inked and then scanned, colored, and altered. Primarily used photoshop 7.0
Final form drawing was done on one paper, and the keyblades were drawn on another.

This is a fan art of KH II's final form: Sora (as the title and piece both explain). Kingdom Hearts 2 is a Playstation 2 game, and the contents of said game belong to Square-Enix.

awsome job! i like the drive forms better than the normal forms, haven't played, and won't 4 awhile *evil, over reactive thinks video games are evil and cause you 2 be violent-parents haunt my world X_X *dies** but anyway, my friends tell me about it....which makes me wanna play it more D:!

Aw, I understand what you mean! Well, hopefully watching the games in one way or another satisfies your curiosity~ I know for me, when I was away one summer from video games and everything, I ended up watching videos of KH2 on YouTube... 9_9; Pretty silly, heheh, but I was happy just to see the dance-y colors. I enjoyed it very much.

I've been hesitant to work on the keyblades that Sora will be using in the piece I did "Sora_master form_dance." Because they're complicated, and have funny perspectives with the way he's holding them. =/ Not that he's holding them directly, they'll be shown as though rotating in the space near his hands.
Man, if flying didn't come with Final form, Master form would be my absolute favorite, ever. I just love the way he moves, and the power of his finisher. ^_^

I think this piece is lookgin awesome. I dont know anything about different forms but this has made me more excited to play KH2
The pose details and everything are looking so nice in this picture. Sora translates well into your style
How did you get the lightning to concentrate for you? It seems like its just at the points where theyres an important focal point. I was looking at the tutorial and it seems like it makes random placements of lightning.

I'm glad you like the piece. It also makes me happy that it can give you something to look forward to with KH2 ^_^
What I did for this piece was create the lightning- using the tutorial's instructions- on a separate photoshop canvas, and followed their suggestions with altering the color. You're right that this method does make a random placement of lightning- but when I adding one or two of these lightning effects to the "final form: Sora" piece, I rotated and cropped the lightning, as well as faded the edges where appropriate, until I reached the desired effect.
I probably could have layered the lightning, too, come to think of it. Maybe I can try that next time... ^_^
I'd recommend giving this lightning-making tutorial a try, just to see whether or not you like what you can do with it.

Originally, the artist of this webcomic made a lighting effect in the beginning of her comic (when she was still new at photoshop, I assume)-- you can see her first attempt here: [link] (second panel, yellow)
Then when re-making the first chapters of her comic, in order to sell them in book form, this is what the artist did her second time through: [link] (I personally like the middle pannel the best).

Aww, I know, it's not easy being out of the loop! The good news is, I know you will absolutely love this game.
At first I wasn't enjoying it, because the story makes no sense. My suggestion is to look forward to the great gameplay and for getting to know (and love) the characters even more. I can't wait to talk with you about it, or watch you play- whichever comes first ^^

I had no idea that many of the keyblades were so complicated. I mean I figured as much, but not until you draw it do you realize...
Take, for example, the keyblade Axel gives. Ohh man.
