I really like this. Don’t know what the fanfic was that inspired you for this but I have a story (I’m no author and this is my humble imagination only, totally fiction).
My story is that Azog and Thranduil are related in some way. Before Azog was created he was a High Elf like Thranduil and probably his kin. Once Saruman deformed him to an Orc he became unique in his abilities compared to regular orcs. He also looked different. The remnants of his past as an elf are still there. When he finally comes face to face with Thranduil he is conflicted. Also Thranduil stops himself killing Azog because he has a glimmer of recognition of his old friend/kin.
This is my story and this beautiful art reminds me of the story. Great work 👍

What's up with this skinny elf I mean Tolkien elves ain't fairies. Tolkien elves were strong and tall just not like nowadays super-bulky/academy dudes because they would loose their grace and then the elven lords were even stronger, but of course they would appear somewhat slender since they lack on body fat but not muscles:

"In general the Sindar appear to have very closely resembled the Exiles, being dark-haired, strong and tall, but lithe." The History of Middle-earth, vol. XI, The War of the Jewels: "Quendi and Eldar,"

'They were called “halflings”; but this refers to the normal height of men of Númenórean descent and of the Eldar (especially those of Ñoldorin descent), which appears to have been about seven of our feet.’

'' But in the dim dusk of a winter's day there appeared suddenly among them a man, as it seemed, of great bulk and girth, cloaked and hooded in white...'' - This is a physical description of Beleg in comparison to the men that were following Túrin Turambar. Keep in mind he is of Thranduil's kin and he isn't even an elf-lord.

So Thranduil being an elf-lord would be at least as tall as Azg and proportionally strong too.

Только сегодня наконец зарегистрировался на dA, а сразу такой приятный сюрприз Азог/Трандуил - это в некотором роде мой ОТП, и я даже и не думал, что кто-то рисует по этому, мягко говоря, странноватому пейрингу. Спасибо за прекрасную работу
