Description Acrylic on canvas, 20x20

Did a sketch while sitting on the patio of the Hotel Savoy in Timisoara Romania. I wanted to try a technique with an architectural piece, so I tried this.

Not sure if it really fits into any groups

Another pointillist painter that some poeple won't have heard of is Van Rysselberghe [link] .The brush work in this reminds me of him but the style is different.

It was based on a sketch I did while sitting on an outdoor patio at a hotel in Romania drinking a beer. Toward the bottom left is the table I was sitting at, and the background is the buildings I was looking at. Just decided to play with painting... Done with a toothbrush.. faux pointillism

there were three colors used in preparing the background tone (with a brush), then three different colors were used in each geometric segment on top of those background colors (with toothbrush)... some of those are repeated...not sure of the total of different colors. maybe between 10 and 15 different tubes of paint were used...

Thanks Klaudia... I took a look at how you put it together. The painting looks a bit out of place amongst all of the sharp photography... Oh well.. different can be good (I think)

Beautiful, I love this one! I like the black lines in it, too. Can't believe you did all this with a toothbrush
Anyway, this is one of those pieces my fingers are tingling to feel it! I love the texture you achieved

I find it a lot of fun to paint on a stretch canvas with a toothbrush. It kind of bounces like playing a drum...it took a roll of masking tape also...

Hi Klaudia. I spent 6 to 10 months total in Timisoara. I'm not sure if I will ever make it back as my project finished up in February. I hope I do though. I made some wonderful friends there. I did many sketches while sitting in the hotels after work. The painting was of one of those sketches.

I feel I made a little mistake on the piece Anita. It looked kind of cool before I put in the dark lines to outline the buildings and geometric shapes. But I felt it lacked depth... once I started with the darker lines.. it was too late and I had to complete them.

Whole thing painted with a toothbrush!

I think it looks good with the dark lines. But every painting is a learning process. If you really think that it looked better without the lines, you will remember it for the next painting .

the bad thing about constantly experimenting (and getting older) is that I forget some of the things I tried and scratch my head and wonder how I did it.... rediscovery
