In 10 years, we will befriend someone and after developing a bit of a relationship; they will reveal they are former "bronies."
This is seriously the future we will see. These 20-something attention-whores will stop watching it after they realize they lived their lives as pariahs on purpose. They want to be judged and ostracized; it brings a form of validation to their existence. I don't hate on them; but don't be stupid and wonder WTF people harass you. You know it exists, so keep it to yourself or STFU; that's the risk of supporting something as blindly and stupidly as you do.
Don't put your self identity and worth in a goddamn cartoon. If you do, you will assume any criticism directed at it, is directed at you.

You've made some very interesting points. I'd never given any thought to the long-term fate of the fandom or how it's going to be remembered. I think we should make a distinction between the people who just like the show and the ones who can't shut up about it and bring ponies into everything. Living their lives as pariahs on purpose sounds pretty close to the mark; it's as if they think being hated is better than being completely ignored.
Last week a friend said he respected any grown man who had the courage to admit he liked a cartoon made for little girls. It's possible some bronies take real pride in doing so, but the ones who make the most noise just come across as desperate, and I don't think they're worthy of respect when they sexualize the characters and embody the worst stereotypes.

Thank you very much; I enjoyed the piece and "arguments" your artwork in your gallery displays. I am not about spreading hate, but trying to extinguish it. It does take anyone an amount of strength to admit something that they could be looked at negatively for; that doesn't mean that people have to admire the person for it or disagree. I like that people are willing to admit what they like and stand by it; that is called being mature by not caring what society thinks. Your execution is just hideously flawed; look at Kanye. I can't stand that people are so quick to think that criticism equals hatred.
Furries, bronies, all that....do whatever you want. The only issue people take is that you try to justify to people that honestly don't care to know. Also, don't get pissed because, someone doesn't "get it"; even if they try. If you get mad at someone's opinions, you are a bigot for thinking yours' are more important. Be a brony, but don't expect everyone to care or understand; just as you will meet people with "odd" tastes that you don't see logic in. Stop bringing hate on yourselves and then thinking it is justified ostracism, due to ignorance. Sometimes, albeit few, that IS the case. But 99% of it is due to peacocking, seeing negative reactions, and throwing a tantrum like a child.

This image may seem way too harsh but it was never meant for fans of the show (which I don't watch but don't hate either). Outside the realm of satire Derpy never got shot, there's no pony called Sunny Muffin, and (shock horror) not all MLP fans look like this.
I'm surprised at how personally some people take this sort of thing and have offered some thoughts on the topic in my latest journal post, "Thoughts on Satire." If you're interested but short on time start from the fifth paragraph (I doubt I'll cause such a stir again soon...) I hope this makes things clearer, and if my work's still not to your tastes you're under no pressure to look at it!
