the Truth; you have no sense of humor.  But, I am sure you laugh at other jokes; maybe at Mormons or something?  Guess what, you are a hypocrite; so is anyone that ever gets offended ever over anything.

... I don't laugh at things that discriminate against other people for what they like/their sexual orientation/anything about them that I shouldn't be laughing at. People on the internet think that a "sense of humor" needs to be the same for everyone, and they think it's not offensive to people when they attack their likes/beliefs/sex/sexual preferences etc. but it CAN be offensive, and people CAN be hurt by it. Remember how the sticks and stones rhyme doesn't hold up? Yeah, well it still doesn't, even on the internet.

Being offended is a narcissistic trait.  That means that one believes their opinion outweighs another person's.  Trying to regulate how people feel, think, or speak is fascism.

catz537 In reply to MattStar1980 [2015-04-03 21:41:39 +0000 UTC]

No, being offended means you have feelings. If someone is attacking a certain thing about you that shouldn't be attacked because it's just an aspect of who you are, then yeah, it's probably going to hurt you. How does that translate to the person getting offended believing their opinions are better..? That doesn't make sense. They are hurt by what you've said.
You're trying to regulate how people feel, think or speak. You're allowing people to offend others and push them down. That's the same as trying to hurt them.

I want harmony, but a knee-jerk reaction is for people to seek vindication against those that wrong them; usually in the same damn manner they were wronged.  OR be a "nanny" and make sure no one has the option....that is censorship and fascist!  What if an atheist wants to paint Jesus as a lustful, homosexual, gigolo?  If that were protested by a church, people would flock to the message boards to defend artistic freedom; as would I, even though I identify as somewhat Christian. But, if the same group that protests for the painting of Jesus, citing artistic freedom, then get mad at Tosh.0 for saying "Fag" in a joke...are morons and hypocrites.  A lot of people perceptively believe themselves wronged for ludicrous reasons and it gives them a paper excuse to be crappy to someone.  If a person derives their pleasure from treating others poorly (even if they have wronged them) it is a dark path to take.

I'm not so sure about that.. The point is that if someone is going to treat someone a certain way and/or (as this picture has done) promote a stereotype that isn't completely true of an entire group who have one thing in common, - in this case, liking/watching MLP:FiM - but not necessarily anything else in common, it only fuels the fire of the haters and gives them more reason to stereotype against the group and treat them as if they're all clones of each other and they're all wrong because of what they like.
I suppose that's the main reason I don't like this image. It promotes a stereotype about us that isn't true of all of us, and so haters jump right on the bandwagon and use it as an excuse to hate on us all even more.

No, people are shitty people, no matter if you "arm" them or not.  If someone easily falls for stereotypical thinking; they suck anyway.  You argue this only fuels the fire, no; if someone gets pleasure from making fun of others maliciously- they are wrong.  The artist here, meant no such thing; it was social commentary.  I bet if one were to depict JFLAXMAN and something he liked in a stereo-typical view, do you know what he would do?  Laugh.   He would laugh and "roll with it", know why?  He has a REAL sense of humor; TAKING a joke is what makes someone NOT a HYPOCRITE.

Do you not realize that comedy is nothing but human suffering for the most part?   America's Funniest Home Videos for instance.  They were big on showing "nut shots", you know, people getting hit in the balls by balls.  Do you think the guy getting pegged in the nuts is laughing his ass off?  Nope, but anyone on the damn planet that sees it, is.  So, is everyone a bunch of bullies?  Or, if that guy has a sense of DAMN HUMOR; he laughs it off after they drop from his belly lol?  He laughs it off.

If someone is hate fueled, such as your example, they will be that way no matter what "banner" they wave.  Look at the extremists of any group.

I really don't have any interest in listening to your excuses and/or justifications for hurting people. Yeah, sometimes it's okay to laugh at things, but if it gets out of hand and hurts people, it's going too far. And often on the internet, that's what happens when people with this sense of humor throw shit around like this.

A person can still say whatever they want; I don't care if they want to sky-write " I eat fucking babies and shit abortions"  it is their right to do so!

But, it is also the right of the pilot or place offering the sky-writing, to say "Piss off!"

The meaning of discrimination needs to be assessed desperately; people throw it around because they are spoiled children with hurt feelings.

You can't wage a war on bad feelings; that is naive....as most supporters of fascism are.

I didn't say anything about putting it into law that you can't be shitty to people. If you're going to be shitty to people, that's on you, and you deal with the consequences. There are a lot of people on the internet who are downright horrible to others, and there is no way to justify that. You can't justify your "sense of humor" if it is offending others.

I am not condoning people purposely hurting someone's feelings for something that is beyond their control; that is a terrible thing.  What I am saying, is a lot of people laugh at a lot of things until it includes them in the joke.  That's hypocritical; Isaac Hayes is a piece of shit for doing what he did on South Park.  He lampoons everyone on the planet, but  quits when the religion chosen is Scientology?!   EVERY THING ON THIS PLANET IS OPEN TO COMEDY!  Are there tasteless jokes?  Yep, but I would fight for the right for someone to make it.  For someone to think they are above a little "ribbing", while joking about other things, are terrible people and need to change.

I know not all bronies are like this painting but, they need to admit that the majority of them have a very serious obsession problem about a child's cartoon. Bronies are now Sonicfag level obsessed. Most absolutely refuse to except the fanbase's disgusting under layers and opposite opinions. They also can't except that inserting the cartoon into EVERYTHING is a problem too (which is part of the obsession thing). I see really REALLY good artists here who don't draw, sculpt, paint, plush, or tinker anything but fucking PONIES!!! The divine truth about bronies is that most are hypocritical, attention whores with an obvious boner for animated animals. They fail at making pathetic excuses like "0thEr fAbeses D0 eT" and "U are JosT a HADER" and "THeY awen't REAAAAAAL zo itz 0k". Criticizing other people/fandoms is not an excuse for cowardly ignoring serious problems in your own fandom. I could go on and on but, I'm tired of trying to explain this to other bronies because they NEVER LISTEN. So there you have it.

"The majority of them have a very serious obsession problem about a child's cartoon." Let me just stop you right there. Where is your evidence of this? You seem to be making a whole lot of generalized statements about the brony fandom. You are stereotyping us and bashing us. I'd like to say, first of all, that there is absolutely nothing wrong with liking a "child's cartoon." I don't even consider cartoons to be FOR children. I consider them to be for whoever wants to watch them. They're cartoons... Let people like what they do. I'm respecting your right to like whatever you want, so instead of bashing my fandom, maybe you should allow it to do the same. Also, your use of the word "Sonicfag" makes me believe that you have something against gay people. If you do not, then please do not use being gay as an insult. Thank you. Anyway - and I'm assuming here you meant to say "accept," not "except" - I've accepted the GOOD parts of my fandom pretty whole heartedly, and that is what I focus on as a brony myself. The good things, to me, are our motto to love and tolerate, the importance of friendship, and the importance of love in general, really. These are all things the show supports. You said that "inserting the cartoon into everything is a problem too" - but again, there is good intent behind that. The intent isn't actually to "ponify" everything. The intent is usually either to make a crossover with another show/game/whatever that the person ponifying it ALSO likes. I really think that the only reason so many things have been ponified is because MLP is so popular that all the bronies have at some point realized, "hey, I like crossovers and want to make one between two of the things I like," and viola, you have tons of MLP crossovers with other popular things. My advice to you, if it really bothers you that much, is to NOT LOOK at the MLP crossovers. I understand that you may come across them without intending to, but even then, you can easily ignore it and not let it bother you. If you go around yelling at bronies or telling us that we have an obsession or a problem with ponifying everything, you'll just look like a butthurt hater to most of us, and we won't care. Oh, and to address your comment that you see REALLY good artists who create nothing but pony-related things, I'd like to ask: why do you believe that's a problem? Artistic freedom should be something that is praised, not shamed. There is nothing wrong with wanting to focus your artistic talents on something specific that you enjoy. Many artists have a theme, or a certain emotion/style for their work that they continually use. I don't understand why artists who are bronies shouldn't also have that same right. "Most are hypocritical, attention whores with an obvious boner for animated animals." That statement goes too far. That is a huge misconception and stereotypical judgement about our fandom. First of all, I don't understand where you even obtained the idea that bronies are hypocrites. I've never really come across bronies who are being that way. I think I already gave some good points to explain why we aren't attention whores. It may look that way because there are so many of us, but in reality, we're just doing what we like, just like everyone else. There just happens to be more MLP stuff around because there are more bronies, not because we're "attention whores." The last one is another huge bash people commonly use against the brony fandom, and that's the idea that we're physically attracted to cartoon ponies. To address this, I'd like to first point some very important things out: firstly, the ponies, just like ANY OTHER CARTOON CHARACTERS, are humanized. Naturally, when you get connected with ANY character - human or not - the reality is that if the character has been humanized or in many ways represents a real person with a real and very well rounded personality, including flaws, - which, in fact, the ponies do better than most cartoon characters in my opinion - it's possible for you to see that character in the same way you might see someone in your life who is moderately close to you. Everyone does this. Everyone connects to humanized cartoon characters in some way, simply because of the emotional elements and the humanized personalities. That being said, everyone still understands that they are not human, nor are they real; and that includes bronies. Another thing I'd like to bring up is the fact that everyone has a libido, and just about everyone's libido is aroused in some way when something sexual is presented to them, regardless of what it is. Basically, the reason people masturbate to images of penises and vaginas (regardless of whether or not they are connected to cartoon ponies) is BECAUSE everyone has a libido and sometimes wishes to feed it that way. It is NOT because people ACTUALLY WANT to have sex with whatever or whoever they're masturbating to. It's a prominent trait in all of us to be sexual. We are, as humans, sexual animals. We like sex. That's the ONLY REASON why people masturbate to cartoon ponies. It has nothing to do with the fact that they are ponies. If people would pay attention to basic psychology, they'd understand this. Lastly, I don't believe anything I've said here is, quote, a "pathetic excuse." I believe I've made some very valid and logical arguments in defense of my fandom.
