I see influences from Ed Roth (Ratfink) and Basil Wolverton in this. They made similarly bizarre characters to this.

Thanks! I'm familiar with Ed Roth, but didn't know Basil Wolverton until a friend put me onto his work after seeing this pic. I'd seen some of it before but couldn't put a name to it.
Roth's Ratfink was meant to be an anti-Mickey, and this is my take on the same idea!
