I get the idea behind most of it, but why is the "cloud" full of organ-like bits?

It's actually the brain and it represents the decisions we make. How we choose to eat fast foods instead of healthy alternatives or in some cases, people become addicted and it's always in their minds. As he said, many people use it as a security blanket likeΒ some do with religion.Β

OK.. It's just odd that I see components in a representation of the brain that look more like flesh-covered bones and other organs and tissues. I'm sure there's a section of large intestine in there somewhere.

Yikes. I rarely eat fast food these days, and that's not going to change now that I've seen this. I should do 50 sit-ups tomorrow.
What really creeps me out is the organs and viscera-- then there's the ruined city in the background.

Now that I think about it, I'm relieved that I've never seen someone that grotesquely obese in person. Honestly, I really pity cases like that.

Christ, I thought I was depressed and nauseated before I saw this...

This art is indeed both beautiful and kinda of disgusting, though that of course was the intent. As art, it is indeed as interesting, but for my religious beliefs, I'll just refrain from them. Let's just say that I only like it as art itself.

Still amazing job.

The music Dancing Mad from Final Fantasy VI (with Ronald McDonald taking the place of Kefka, an evil clown ascended to a divine being) comes to mind as I view this. Β As does Giygas' theme from Earthbound (the intestines in the cloud are reminiscent of its lair).

Of course, the art is grotesque; but that was the entire point, which it communicates quite clearly, and it is technically well done besides.

You would do well to remember the clown forces no one to eat at his restaurant ever, let alone for three plus meals a day. It is the customer who chooses to spend his money in whatever way he sees fit, or unfit as may fit the case. Personal responsibility and all that, ya' dig?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

jflaxman In reply to RealityDowngrade [2015-01-23 03:29:31 +0000 UTC]

The clown's offering the fries to a man who doesn't need any more but is reaching for them anyway. There's a bit of guilt both ways.

I can't argue with your call for more personal responsibility. I don't think fast food should be banned and blaming it (or just one franchise) for bad health would be lazy and short-sighted. AllΒ good (and bad) things in moderation!

πŸ‘: 1 ⏩: 0

ADeviantRogue In reply to RealityDowngrade [2015-01-22 23:26:42 +0000 UTC]

You're not wrong, that's for sure. I still feel like places like McDonalds have an obligation in who they target with their product advertisement (using a clown to target children to eat food that can hardly be considered food in my opinion is just wrong) but that does not take away from an individual's personal responsibility. That's why I cannot help but to shake my head when I see someone trying to file a lawsuit against McDonalds or any fast-food corporation because it "made them fat". These corporations do, in my opinion have a certain obligation to offer healthier food to the public but they are also not responsible for each and every person who makes the conscious choice to zip through their drive-thru.

That's why I support certain laws, regulations, and restrictions against these companies (such as the one that was passed concerning the use of trans-fat in their product) but that does not mean that they owe any one individual any set amount because if that person was not subjecting themselves to the unhealthiness that is the Big Mac (there is nooooo reason why any one burger should be THAT unhealthy) then they would find some other unhealthy habit to replace it with.Β
