I honestly can't see Mario being a mob boss; to me, that's more of a Luigi thing. I mean, just LOOK AT HIM:

i don't blame ubisoft for not making rayman legend an exclusive for the wii u. the system sold less than the sega dreamcast and thats saying something about how bad nintendo has been making decisions latelyΒ

I still don't see why that's bad either.

Again, considering Rayman origins wasn't exclusive either, there is no reason to have legends be an exclusive if the previous game wasn't.

exclusive are a big deal especially if you want people to buy your system take me for example i was interested in an xbox one for halo and a xbox exclusive called cuphead. so before i make the move to buy it i look up games for it and wow is it sad the lack of exclusives that the xbox has it only has halo and gears of war as exclusives and i can care less for gears of war and at the end i said "i am not going to buy a system for two games". with nintendo the games they make only hardcore fans of nintendo having been mainly buying and with most people they want games from other developers more than nintendo and sony and microsoft have those developers and exclusive developers. i love nintendo but they have been abusing their customers in my opinion. own a wii u and a 3ds and i buy nintendo games on them but nintendo with their decisions lately have been annoying me and i don't deny the terrible moves they chose like the people i know. when i saw that e3 direct of theirs i felt that i was shot 7 round with a semi automatic pistol right in the chest.

...

Okay, so all i got from that block of text is more exclusives = better console. That is certified grade A bullshit, if that were true than the
PC would be king, as it has five times as many exclusives as any other console. Besides, the WiiU HAS third party support and a decent library
thats growing all the time, with SEVERAL exclusives.

As for nintendo, for every bad descision they've made, they've made five good ones. Nintendo does not abuse or neglect its fans, if that were the case
there would be no smash ballot, and every new dlc fighter that was introduced for smash bros wouldn't exist in ssb4. I saw the e3 direct and i DIDN'T
feel your supossed "shot in the chest". The only bad thing about nintendo's E3 was Metroid federation force (which isn't all terrible either)

Also, where the hell did you get the idea that Nintendo has been making games for a hardcore audience only? That is also bullshit. Mario games are mean't to
be fun. And although some may be used in competitions, NONE are made SPECIFICALLY Β for a damn hardcore audience.

Lastly, how do you know what gamers want? You don't have the satistic evidence to say that gamers are gravitating to Xbox One and PS4, both of which don't
have this army of "exclusive developers" you think they do (maybe one or two are, like rareware.)

BTW, here is a page from wikipedia that shows all the wiiu exclusives: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category…
Go read that and then come back and tell me that nintendo has no exclusives.Β

There's a bit of a historical reference here as well. Back in 80s when Nintendo was in its prime, they made their developers sign an agreement that would prevent them from developing games for other systems. Developers were also prohibited from churning out more than 5 games per year. While the latter seemed like a good idea for quality control, they wanted to avoid the mistakes made during the Atari 2600 generation, developers still felt like they were being cruelly oppressed no matter how good the profits were. Of course, back then there weren't that many systems to chose from, and the NES was pretty much untouchable. Even Atari tried to get back in the game when they released the 7600 only to get crushed by Nintendo.

Harris2300 [2013-06-04 00:07:16 +0000 UTC]

Meh. If anything, all Ubisoft did was make the game far more accessible to everyone, especially for gamers like me who don't want to shell out the money for a Wii-U just to play another Rayman game. Who cares what Don Mario thinks. A delay like this is a small price to pay so everyone can enjoy it, and it's great news for a 360 owner like myself who absolutely loved Origins.

To think I had so much respect for Ubisoft...
They want to get more money by making it multiplatform (logical process of thought), but want to delay the already completed version for 7 months, when they'll have to face Mario, Zelda WW and GTA V (not to mention other titles that may be announced at E3 this year for a close date)!

Ubisoft betrayed themselves with this move!

Popman71 In reply to yamiryuuzero [2013-08-25 02:58:36 +0000 UTC]

No they didn't!Β  It's great that they're going multi-platform.Β  (It was pretty much a multi-platform company to begin with.)Β  It gives access to those people who want the game, yet either can't afford a Wii U or just simply don't want to get one for a specific game.Β  Sure the delay was a small price to pay, but if anything, it was a smart move on Ubisoft's part.Β  If you ask me, it just brings in more fans.

yamiryuuzero In reply to Popman71 [2013-08-25 03:55:54 +0000 UTC]

I will now tell you why their decision was wrong:

"I wouldn't say they "betrayed", but what they did with Nintendo and with Wii U owners was indeed a slap in the face. They built an enormous hype with Rayman Legends on the Wii U, which was a sure buy alongside Assassin's Creed III and Zombi U when all three of them were out on the market (two of those games were exclusives for Wii U). We understood the first delay, that's not rare at all when a game is in development, but the last delay of 7 months to make it for the other two platforms?! That was a sure foul move n their part.

"Their reasoning for that was: "ZombiU didn't sell enough to make profit, so we believe Rayman Legends won't sell well either". There are so many flaws on that reasoning. First of all, what I stated above: just like me, most gamers were eager to get the three games together, or almost at the same time, specially the two exclusive titles. Since they delayed Rayman for so long, people were just patiently waiting for when it launched to buy the others. And what did Ubisoft do? 7 month delay, not an exclusive anymore!
Now there was only one exclusive title, ZombiU. Why should I bother buying a Wii U if those two titles I wanted the most are coming for a platform I already own?

"Another flaw: ZombiU and Rayman Legends are two different games. You can't predict the sales of a colorful side-scroller based on how well a survival horror performs. Let's be fair here: although I hate it when people say Nintendo consoles are for kids (which I believe is just someone who has never played a Nintendo game before, or never got past the first stage of Super Mario Bros.), Rayman Legends is the title that fits Nintendo image the most. It was one of the most anticipated games on the launch window, if not the most.

"Third flaw: ZombiU is a new title. Rayman is a long term series (at least in comparison). ZombiU's proposal was to show how the Gamepad behaves on another kind of game different from side-scrollers. We had maps and menus accessible through the touch screen, we could aim and shoot with the gyroscope, and so many other features. It was a field of test, both for developers to understand this new piece of hardware, and for gamers, to understand what that little tablet can do to make things better. They were supposed to use it to see how people react to each of those features, and polish them on the next titles.

"When we talk about a series and a new title, the most correct would be the new title being used as the field of test, and the series playing safe. Ubisoft made it right on that, but the results they expected from ZombiU were form the series: sure profit on something entirely new to everybody. They thought that since what they tried to do as something new failed, playing safe wouldn't do any better either. Those games are completely different , either regarding the gameplay, experiences, the public they're directed at and their proposals. Even so, Ubisoft thought they could foresee the sales of one based on the other.

"I blame Ubisoft for the poor sales of ZombiU. Nintendo made it right at the start: bundles with the game, advertised it right, Ubisoft was happy, and everybody lived in peace. A few games got delayed (most system sellers), and Ubisoft thought no games would sell on Wii U. After that, the games announced on this E3 skipped Wii U. Ubisoft may not have betrayed Nintendo, but their strategy regarding the console sure is stupid."

This is the very same comment I wrote on this page wiiudaily.com/2013/08/from-the… in response to a person who said they were sick of people saying Ubisoft betrayed Nintendo and why the delay on Rayman Legends was stupid.

As you said, some people can't afford or simply don't want to buy a Wii U to buy Rayman Legends. Being a third party title, there's no exclusivity forever; most exclusive titles end up being ported to every other platform after a while; but there are lots of titles that get to be exclusives for months or a year or more before going multiplatform. Thing is, Ubisoft already had the game DONE. The announcement of the delay was from 4 to 7 days before the launch date, to port the game for other two platforms from the start (not the concept, I mean they had to fit it the capacity of the consoles, find a way to control Murphy without the Gamepad on PS360, downgrade, etc.). Yet, they didn't care to delay Assassin's Creed III for one week to launch all versions with the Wii U.

The delay wasn't a small price to pay. Thanks to that, most Wii U owners or people who wanted to buy a Wii U with Rayman Legends canceled their pre-orders. I do believe Rayman Legends will be a success on the long run for the console, but thanks to that move, it's sure that the sales for Wii U at launch will be close to 10% of the other two consoles. Not because Wii U is a platform that doesn't sell, but because Ubisoft slapped everyone on the face. It' not a small price, it is a stupid move that could cost them lots of profit. If they don't sell well on the PS360, Rayman Legends will have the worst ammount of sales for the series so far!

Popman71 In reply to yamiryuuzero [2013-08-25 04:17:29 +0000 UTC]

Valid argument.Β  Though with the port to every other console, it will provide access to those gamers who have a Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 yet don't have a Wii U.Β  (They barely have enough money to buy Rayman Legends, but not enough for a Wii U.)Β  Though I'd say the best decision would've been to release it on Wii U when it originally should've been released & months later, released it on Xbox & Playstation.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

yamiryuuzero In reply to Popman71 [2013-08-25 16:34:32 +0000 UTC]

That would be the best solution.

But I do have something against that thought of yours, regarding exclusive third party titles. Every time PS3 or Xbox 360 get an exclusive title, or a title that hits only the two consoles leaving Wii or Wii U aside, no Nintendo fan/Wii/Wii U owner is allowed to complain about that. If we make a comment, or a move to ask for third parties to make their game for the console we choose, everyone attacks us by claiming we're irrational fanboys, and we should buy other console for the game. But if it's Nintendo receiving an exclusive title, it's unfair, anti-ethic, the end of the world, and the only possible solution to restore balance to the world is by making the title multiplatform. Just see the reaction of others when Rayman Legends and Bayoneta 2 were announced as exlusives for Wii U.

You do have make an excellent point.Β  I have seen people like that before.Β  I try my hardest not to be like that.Β  I'm just not a huge Nintendo fan.Β  What I think the biggest issue is that Nintendo is beginning to "fade" per say.Β  Numerous people thought that they were the greatest back in the day, (which I concur with) but now, the only platforms & games keeping them alive are Mario, Super Smash Bros, Legend of Zelda, & the Wii U.Β  A good majority who once loved the iconic company are beginning to lose interest in the famous mustached plumber, & the rest of them; they are beginning to look towards the more modern games & platforms such as Xbox 360, Playstation 3, & the PC.Β  This is the most likely reason for the hate towards Nintendo.Β  People just think they are fading into the past.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

yamiryuuzero In reply to Popman71 [2013-08-31 18:20:31 +0000 UTC]

The problem is that people think Nintendo only makes childish games, that's why they leave Nintendo and migrate to other platforms. Of course, within those there are the gamers who want only graphics instead of gameplay experience (I've met some that said games should be a photo realistic novel where you only choose the path the story is going to by pressing one or two buttons), and that's why they left Nintendo too. There's also the lack of games for the N64 and GCN, which reflected on the poor interest of third parties developing for Wii.

Nintendo has lots of franchises, including Metroid, Pikmin, Pokemon, Donkey kong, Animal Crossing, etc. Some have been forgotten, like F-Zero and Star Fox, but most of them are kicking, and driving sales up. If you live somewhere where Sony and/or Microsoft are seem more often, you may think Nintendo is fading away, but that goes from place to place, or people to people. My entire generation on my family is on Nintendo side, I have some friends who also go only for Nintendo, and the forums and chats I usually see are solely related to Nintendo stuff. You may think they're fading away, but that's what your surroudings make it look like (and let's not forget the biased media).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Popman71 In reply to yamiryuuzero [2013-08-31 18:28:19 +0000 UTC]

See I know about nearly all their franchises, but a number of them are being forgotten.Β  While, I'm one for story & gameplay over graphics, I do find that excellent graphics are a nice touch to, say, enhance the experience.Β  (I guess it depends on the game itself & it's genre.Β  See I don't think they're fading away, but that's just my theory one what others think about Nintendo.Β  I will admit I have my fair share of Nintendo games & franchises I admire & find interesting.Β  (Mario, Legend of Zelda, Pikmin, & Smash Bros come to mind.)Β  See my theory involves the idea that these games have been around for so long that people grow tiresome of these same old franchises.Β  They want something new.Β  The majority of new titles go to Xbox & Playstation so that may also be another reason towards their leaning in said consoles' directions.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

yamiryuuzero In reply to Popman71 [2013-09-01 23:48:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, you do have a good point. But Miyamoto said he's busy working on his new project, so we should soon see a new franchise, hopefully for the Wii U.

There's also another thing. People usually don't consider something new a franchise. When Wii Sports came out, gamers didn't give it much attention. It was only after Wii Sports Resorts, Wii Music, Wii Play and Wii Fit that they finally saw it as a franchise. The very same thing happened to Nintendo Land. It is indeed a new franchise, and Nintendo seems to have interest in making more of it, but gamers don't recognize it as a new franchise. So, in one side we have Nintendo coming up with the same IPs over and over again, and on the other side we have gamers that refuse to acknowledge any attempt of creating a new one.

I think the biggest problem with Nintendo are their fans. They simply don't know what they want. If they announce a new Zelda game, they want the remake of a classic title. If they announce a remake, they want a new title. If Nintendo announces a new Mario platformer, they want a 3D game; reversely, if they make a 3D title, gamers will complain that it's not a platformer. If they show a new IP, gamers complain it's not a new Zelda title; reversely, when Nintendo announces a new Zelda, Mario or Donkey Kong, gamers find it weird that it's not a new IP.

I wish Nintendo fans were a bit more like me in that matter. I trust Nintendo always do a great job into creating games, better than any other company, and I just know I'll have lots of fun with whatever they create for us.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Popman71 In reply to yamiryuuzero [2013-09-02 00:13:13 +0000 UTC]

Well, thank you.Β  So do you.
See, I think I understand what you're getting at.Β  The Nintendo fans can be quite conflicted.Β  At what point they want to try something new & different from the regular Mario, Legend of Zelda, & so on, but when they release said new product, the fans who wished for a new IP soon grow tiresome of the new release & want to go back to something classic and vice versa.Β  Like you, I trust Nintendo does a great job with imagining games, though I wouldn't go as far as saying they're better than any other company.Β  I'd simply say it varies based on the games that are released for the year.Β  If you mean who uses the most imagination, then yes Nintendo takes the cake; I mean an Italian plumber who saves a princess with a kingdom full of mushroom people from a fire-breathing dragon with a turtle army?Β  That just screams imagination!Β  However, if we are comparing the companies' overall performance & delivery with their games, than it depends on how the company treats the game.Β  (How well the game is advertised, how much work is put into the game, & so forth.)
