Holy cow, that's amazing. I love the way you draw Roger and Abe. Am I mistaken in assuming you are THAT James Harren, who's done all that awesome work for BPRD: Hell on Earth?

I am definitely THAT James Harren. Though I'll only account for the 'awesome' work. The crappy Harren work was some other guy.

Holy flup, it is you! I've yet to see ANY crappy work from you, good sir. Your art in "AS: The Devil Does Not Jest" creeped me the hell out. (That's a compliment, by the way.)

Is that from a specific HB-comic, or just some random artwork?
The last character in the row, is that Liz Sherman?

This was a commission featuring the cast of BPRD, during the Plague of Frogs era of the comic. And that is indeed Liz in the back. Roger's on the left with Johann and Abe in the back and front. ...and a whole lotta dead frogs.

there's a lot of different storylines and artists working on BPRD now, so it's not really a single artist book anymore.

For a moment, I thought there was going to be an announcement about another flashback story. Awesome piece.

I must admit, I was a little disappointed when I learned the BPRD renumbering would limit "Hell On Earth" to a single issue per month. I enjoyed the stint at the beginning of this year with two books per month and I was really looking forward to "The Abyss of Time" coming out at the end of the year, then with the renumbering it got bumped into 2013. The whole schedule has suddenly stretched out so that even Tyler Crook won't be back on the book until at least August.
I hope there's still room for one more story from you in 2013. I hear you're working on something with John Arcudi. I look forward to reading it.
And if you do happen to get a flashback story, that'd be awesome. Or maybe a Hellboy OGN...

Yea, I'm not sure what happened with the scheduling but I was bummed to hear that the Abyss won't come out until 2013. I start a big one at the end of this year that'll will keep 2013 a BPRD year.

When Scott Allie commented on the scheduling, the main concern was too many Hell On Earth books in a single month was turning some people off because of the extra cost. There were going to months coming out in early 2013 with as many as six Mignola books, and he just decided something had to give. It's a real shame, but that was just the reality of the situation. It couldn't really be avoided. (I got to meet him at New York Comic Con, which was a real honour. He's someone I really admire)
It's fun having you do shorter arcs, but I'd love to see you on the occasional five-issue story, so you get a chance to really dig into the characters more. "The Long Death" had such an emotional weight to it, I'm sure you'd be brilliant at it.

thanks, dude! I think I prefer the longer arcs as well. Two issues barely gets you into the characters.

Man, it's wish fulfillment! I just heard the news from Scott Allie that you're doing a five-issue story. AWESOME.

Your Abe and BPRD issues are hands down some of my favourites. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, your art is perfect for that world. I can't wait until you return to them.

haha id bet.
still havent had a chance to read that yet though. i read all mignola verse books in trades because of the extras in the back. and its just feels right to have the whole story already contained.
and they are gorgeous books
