I just looked up the Shazam logo and yes, they are very similar. This was not intentional.

That's a very good point. Have you ever heard of WhatTheFont? You upload an image containing text and WhatTheFont identifies which font was used.
I bring this up because I think there should be a similar online application that would identify logos. If you suspect your logo may be similar to another already existing one you can just upload an image of it and see how similar it is to other logos out there. See what I mean?
