Description
This is a tutorial on how I do my nose on my paintings following my eye tutorial. I have broken it all down so you can see how and in what order I paint the nose. There are many ways in which other artist do this, but I am self taught and I find this way works for me and allows me to achieve the realism that I am afterHere are some examples of how this fits into a portrait alongside my original eye, mouth, hair and ear tutorial
Β
Thank you for taking the time to even view this and I hope that this might help some of you a little, and a massive heartfelt thank you for all those who commented on my Eye Tutorial and faved it.
I hope you all like it

Another amazing tutorial. You have shown how to do something that most people difficult, and you have made it look easy.

Very nice Β How do you choose the skin colors? I usually just have one layer for skin and one layer for shadow and use transparency and layer settings to make the shading, but it looks like you just use a different shade of peach-y color in different places to do shading. Β Also, what dpi do you paint at? Β If I tried to do that much detail (eg. edges of nostrils) I would have to use a 1-pixel brush and it would start looking pixely haha.

Thank you so Hayley. For skin colour I just pick a pink skin tone depending on the lighting, then just select the lighter and darker tones around it. I actually paint all my skin on one single layer and only use a separate layer for things like freckles, spots or stubble. I always paint using 300 dpi so I can get all the detail I need, so my smallest ever line will usually be a strand of hair at around 8 pixels. My canvas size is usually around 5000 by 3500. I hope this helps you Hayley

Yes very helpful I wonder, how long does it normally take you to draw these? Is it like a half hour project or a detailed all-day labor? hehe Β I think I could try painting realistic things like this if I only had the time, hah

A painting will normally take between 6 to 9 hours on and off, however something likeΒ Β will take around 12 hours

Ah, that's normally how I end up doing it, too. Β Work for an hour or two here and there over a couple of days. Β Once I get something started then I always have the drive to finish it, but I just have to get something started, lol
