Description Here's a version of my old submission for the Polycount Riot art contest. It wasn't a winner, but I thought it would still be nice for people to see since I never posted it anywhere else.

Well, I cannot help but say this. But I might have an idea why it wasn't a winner. Don't take this the wrong way, this is in fact a very excellent piece.

But I cannot help but feel off about ahri being in the middle and being so vibrant while the rest of the picture is more darker in tone. Cause when i look at all the men in this picture, they look like an old painting in style, there is just so much feeling of agony, fear, reverence and all these negative feelings that make it reminisce of a renaissance tragic painting. And then in the middle is Ahri, who's brightness and highlights kinda take away from the area around her. I don't know, something about her lighter colors makes it feel less like it matches the rest of the tone in the picture. Sure the light on her is from the spirit flames, but still with how the rest of the characters are lit here, its all cohesive and equal in their tones, while Ahri's doesn't really match it all the way, her tails do, but that's about it.

Now don't get me wrong, everywhere else it gives off a great use of art: its balanced, sorta well toned, very well shaded and highlighted. If anything this was probly very close to top looks for Riot's Judges. But somehow I feel like ahri shoulda maybe been less vibrant here to fit the rest of the feeling of the picture, which is rather dark.

That's just my thought on it, But i still say that this was probly among one of the top looks, but just did not get to it in the winner's circle. But I do say that the effort you put in here was really good and even though it did not win, you did your best and should feel good about it.

Hey, thanks for the crit. I didn't actually think of that point, that the center could be subtracting from the more emotional and dark areas of the painting. Perhaps I should have dabbled more saturation or vibrancy in the outside areas, or like you said, reduced the vibrancy of Ahri. I definitely got my inspiration from my favorite tragic oil paintings, so it's I'm glad it gives off that feel. I'm not really disappointed I didn't win, as a ton of great works didn't make it in and I gained a lot simply by making the painting.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it!
