Description '/setaway making an emote'

The process of setting away, on a chatroom using SuperdAmn, which I can't be arsed to find the page a link to, just search "Superdamn" in the search box.

Animation involved use of layer masks, but you can probably tell.

This is sorta for use on dAmn too.

Edit: Is now in emote cloud!

I really adore this emote both for its concept and execution, however there are a few things that i could suggest you improve

1) The blinking line at the start is a nice touch bit i would suggest making it repeat a few more times. The emote seems to rush through loops and a slightly longer pause here may be nice

2) once it has finished typing setaway i feel way too much happens at once. the emotes eyes change, they move and the hand appears. Personally i would suggest making the eyes move then the hand appear, making the two movements separate.

3) i have always found the way the hand appears slightly odd. It seems to move out in a weird circular motion. I would suggest making it come out closer to the body

4) I feel you should make the emote wave a few times before it disappears. I feel this contributes to the appearance of the hand looking odd since the audience doesn't get a chance to see it wave properly before it disappears.

Other than that i think you've done a great job. The shading is nicely balanced and creates a great looking emote. The effects to make it disappear and reappear have been pixelled extremely well and create a really effective finished product

Well I think I'll try most of those things when I get round to it (Sometime this century).

Thanks for the suggestions anyway.

Great! Now tell me, please. How do you make good emoticons in GIMP? *Watch my emoticons and you'll probably see my problem*

Well firstly your emotes are too big, generally on dA emotes are 15 pixel wide circle. Although some emoticonists have theirs' bigger, most are 15x15 pixels.

Some 15 pixel emotes:

Animation wise, you're using a combine frame disposal. This means that instead of dumping the old frame and putting the new one in it's place it takes the new one and puts it on top of the new one. A replace frame disposal should be used if the animation has transparency in. Replace gets rid of the old frame and puts the new one in.
