It had been several hours since the accident at the school's science fair that had resulted in Cindy shrinking down to smaller than an ant. She had been doing some last-minute calibrations on her shrink-ray, having difficulty getting it to work correctly, when she accidentally spilled a bottle of water on the table next to it, causing an electrical short. All of the lights in the gymnasium, where the fair was taking place, had gone out for several minutes. When they had come back on she nearly fainted. Reduced to a mere speck on the floor of the gym, it had taken a great deal of time for her to make the perilous journey from her table to the nearest student's project, some kind of magnifying lens that was enhancing a small area of the floor where Cindy hoped to be discovered. Her heart practically beating through her chest whenever a pair of titanic feet passed her by, knocking her flat onto her back with every quaking step, Cindy soldiered on. Battered and bruised from the repeated falls she was forced to suffer on the trek to her peer, she stopped to catch her breath. A sudden tremor sent her collapsing onto her hands and knees once more as a vast shadow fell over her insignificant frame.

A finger larger than a house lowered down before her, and she had to crane her head back as far as it would go to see beyond the finger to the face of Megan, a sophomore girl 2 years younger. Cindy was incredibly sore, each muscle screaming in protest as she slowly climbed the younger girl's finger, gripping the ridges of her fingerprint to help herself along. When she at long last made it to the top of the girl's finger she was nearly sent flying off of it, her towering peer's finger rocketing into the sky without much thought given to the miniscule passenger. Once the finger stopped moving, Cindy got carefully to her feet and shouted to Megan. But she could tell from the look on Megan's face that her cries were going unheard. Furthermore, the incomprehensibly large girl wasn't making any effort to move Cindy nearer to her ears.

"You know, after humiliating me in last year's science fair, I can't imagine what you were thinking in coming over to ME for help. But tell you what, you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours. After I win this year's science fair." Smirking, Megan reached around behind her back with the hand that Cindy was hanging onto desperately, the pathetically puny girl's face going pale as she saw her destination, Megan's slightly exposed crack.

"Get scratching."
