BATMAN LUNAIRE
SCRIPT

(FANTOMAS)

A NOTE ON BATMAN AND HIS APPEARANCE
Batman is in his Batman Incorporated bat-suit, the one from before the new 52 reboot.

A NOTE ON THIS STORY
Batman Lunaire is meant to be a test for comic script writing, so it underplays the plot and puts interesting situations and scenes to the fore. It's about experimenting, rather than grand story-telling. So we have a fast-paced and explosive car chase that leads to Batman facing off with Pierrot Lunaire, a French villain briefly seen as a member of the Club of Heroes.

PAGE 1
Five panels. The first and last are shaped as car windows (rear and then front), and can have car details (lights, rear or head, logo, key for boot, etc.) underneath, in the gutters.
These panels (1.1 and 1.5) are wide, spanning across the page width at the top and bottom of the page. The middle panels (1.2 to 1.4) are more narrow, fitted on a row together between these window panels.
There's a really rough sketch of this for reference.

1.1
Panel is shaped like a car's rear window.
We're looking into a car with four people inside, all of them dressed as typical criminal types (old school gangster or more modern rough thug, either works) with faces painted like mimes (white face powder, black lines over eyes and lips). One in the back seat has a gun in hand (keep track of where he is, we'll see the inside of the car from a few angles in upcoming panels). All four of them are craning to look back, at the reader, faces frozen in wide-eyed shock.

1.2
Tall, narrow panel.
We see BATMAN's gloved hand raised, his grapnel gun ready with his finger on the trigger. Good chance to show off the detail BATMAN's batsuit has on the gloves, especially the knuckles.
Grapnel gun can look like anything, so long as the grapple hook is obvious.

1.3
Tall, narrow panel.
The same close-up of hand and gun, only now we're seeing it as if in POV, like a first-person shooter. He's firing the grapnel gun, and there's a small explosion effect, like smoke. The FX could be warped into the smoke, if you feel adventurous, like the smoke twists itself into the letters.
FX: POOF!

1.4
Tall, narrow panel.
We get a tiny glimpse of the bigger picture, a side-on view of this run-down rusty red car and the BATMAN on his bat-cycle in pursuit. The grapple hook is launching out between them on its cable, a spiralling line from bat to car.
The chase is on a raised expressway, a road on large stone stands, with the city dark in the background.

1.5
Panel is shaped like a car's front windscreen.
Glass is shattering, cracks spreading, as the grappling hook comes through the window towards the reader. Some of the glass shards could be scattering out into the black of the gutters. The hook of the grapple is shiny, very striking.
The criminal types' bodies are still twisted as if looking through the rear window, but their heads are turning to follow the grapple. Sense of motion, like we're being snapped around with their gaze.
As with before, panic on their faces. One holding the steering wheel is especially terrified. Don't forget the one in the back with the gun, keep the gun in view and keep his seating consistent.

You add so many nice little touches to it all, just telling smaller stories within the flow of action. Like the guy getting passed the gun in the first panel, and the slight angling on the bottom panel is really cool, seeing the grapple tear through the seat, bringing glass as it goes.

I'm in awe, buddy.

Thanks, man.nice hearing approval from the writer.im glad you dont mind me going a bit off-script in the last panel.i was going to do it your way but it was difficult getting the "feel" of action in my style.
