*Monty Plains*
*Enemies: Goombas, Koopas, Monty Moles*
After walking to Monty Plains, Celest and Mario stopped for a minute.
*Celest: "I sense the Shining Star somewhere nearby..."
Mario and Celest continued to walk on, and they stumbled upon a Green Hatted Tail Goomba and a Red and White Koopa. The Tail Goomba was attacking the Koopa, while the Koopa was trying to get away. Mario confronted the Goomba, putting a stop to the chaos.
*Goombert: "Well well, if it isn't a certain portly plumber. I'm known as Goombert around these parts, and if your going to take my new Shiny Red Star, then your dead wrong!"
Goombert attacked Mario, and after a battle with the tempered mushroom, Mario was victorious. Goombert ran off, and Mario and Celest gave chase. Eventually, Mario caught up to Goombert, but they realized he was lying on the ground beaten. They helped him up and gave him a mushroom to help heal him.
*Goombert: "Thanks, I guess now I know why they call you a hero. You see, I WAS part of the Monty Clan, but when I took that red star from that geeky turtle and showed it to the Clan Leader, they said they were going to use it to take over Monty Village. When the clan first started, we would just go around wrecking havoc, but taking over the village was something I wasn't willing to do. They took the star from me and ran off..."
Goombert then dawned an angry face, and he started yelling with rage.
*Goombert: "Boy, I'll show them!!! Come on Mario, we can't just stand around! Let's go beat those dirty jerks!"

*Goombert joined your party!( (Whether you like it or not...)

With Goombert now in tow, they were able to access a bridge to get to Monty Village. When they got there, they met many Goombas, Koopas, and Monty Moles who were all very friendly. They came across the Red and White Koopa again, and after seeing Goombert, the Koopa started to cower in fear.
*Goombert: "Lighten Up Nerd, I'm not going to hurt you anymore. We're on our way to go beat those stupid jerk Moles, so do you know where they went?"
The fearful Koopa pointed to a path branching off from Monty Village.
*Goombert: "They must be going to the Clan's base! Come on, we have no time to lose!"
Mario and Co ventured down the path and into Monty Base. When they went inside, they heard someone yell "WAIT!" behind them. The door opened to reveal the red and white clad Koopa.
*Kris: "I, Sir K, shall help you fellow knights to stop the dreaded Monty Clan!"
*Goombert: "Cut out the Medieval talk Kris, it's annoying. And we don't need any more help, especially from a geek like you!"
*Celest: "Wait Goombert, his help might be vital. I think it would be best to take him along. Plus, he's our friend, so don't go around calling him a geek, okay?"
*Kris: "Thank you! Thank you! You won't regret this!"

*Kris joined your party!* (Even though Goombert isn't too happy about it...)

*Goombert: "I swear, your such a nerd..."
Now with the help of Kris, they were able to make it to the top of Monty Base, facing off against several Monty Moles and Goombas along the way. When they got to the top, they encountered Monty Fang, the Clan's leader.
*Monty Fang: "You think you can take my Awesome Star of Might? Then prove it, so called hero!"

*Boss Battle: Monty Fang*

After defeating the terrifying Monty Fang, Mario and Co obtained their second Shining Star! (With Celest being the first.)

*Peach Intermission*
*Peach: "Where... am I? And how did I end up behind these bars?"
The Princess appeared to be inside of some sort of dungeon. She tried pulling at the door to the cell, and to her surprise, it opened without any struggle. After walking through some halls of what seemed like a Dark Manor, she came across a room with a desk, and on top of the desk was paper and a pen. There was also a note that said: "To Contact Mario, Write whatever you want on this piece of paper."
Although this seemed odd to Peach, she went ahead and wrote a letter anyways. Right after she was done, two Ztars came into the room, and after seeing Peach, took her to her cell, and this time they left a guard there to watch.
*Peach: "I wonder if that letter I wrote really will get to Mario..."
