Description
In the mid-1930's, in this particular alt' universe, excommunicated aircraft designer and expert Nitrous Oxide manufacturer (Oh..., ha! Ha! Ha!), Prof. Anton Veeblefitzer, designed this deviation, in competition to Martin's B-9 bomber, and the Boeing B-15 and B-17, etc., the controversial Veeblefitzer Ve-B-7 "Toad" long range strategic bomber.Keeping a conventional bi-wing profile, and powering the craft with two 3,000 hp (!) Wrong-Monsoon radial motors, the craft, unloaded, test pilot Prof. A. Veeb', was capable of reaching 265 mph, during the craft's first test flight, in August of 1935.
The craft was armed with 5 (!) powered turrets, each carrying a 20mm cannon.
Bomb load was 4,000 lbs of ordinance held in a central fuselage placed bomb bay.
Range was 975 miles with full bomb load, making it capable of attacking enemy naval fleets before they could reach American shores.
The American War Dept. ordered only five machines to be built, and these were assigned to coastal defense exclusively.
They did show their worth by sinking the capitol ships of the Imperial Outer Mongolian Navy when that fleet attempted to invade San Francisco shortly after their attack on the American fleet based in San Diego, Calif.
Nicknamed the "Toad", the machine was considered to be one of Prof. Veeblefitzer's less-than-lovely designs.
But..., what the hey! Welcome to Prof. Veeb's universe!
Tons o' love, Jimbowyrick1

The time of great transition when modern aeronautical engineering had yet to emerge....a great bit of design Mr. J!

I love the antique biplane and spats design elements scaled up to a long-range bomber! Not sure how fast it was, but I'm sure it was a stable bombing platform!

That's OK... he really only needs a little space for his bombsight... a bit of glass mere inches across!

My standard question, where should the bombardier side so he can look down, not in the nose and not in the belly where the nose wheel blocks all view forward and down.
Interesting concept with the belly gunner who must hang in a harness with his head down, I think that his efficiency don't last long in that position.

Can the tail gunner shoot downwards? Else that could be a weak spot.
