Description
Professor Anton Veeblefitzer, that totally
creatively insane aircraft scientist, with his friends
at Grumman Aircraft, designed and built, a USN WW2
attack carrier-based attack bomber, the THUNDERWHALE!
Powered with two Pratt and Whitney R2800 radial engines,
in a tandem arrangement similar to the Dornier Do-335 Arrow,
each rated at 2,000hp for take-off, and 2,350hp for "war emergency
power" could easily top 400mph when unloaded.
The craft was armed with 6 X 20mm cannon, and could carry four
1,000lb armor-piercing anti-ship bombs(!).
Pictured is the machine that Captain James Walker flew off the deck
of the mighty USN aircraft carrier, the USS Gettysburg.
Capt. Walker shot down 10 enemy aircraft and sunk 5 enemy ships,
during the outrageous battles of 1943 in this insane alt' universe of:
