Thanks! I wasn't so sure about this one as it's so dark but when I brought the exposure up it looked worse. I brought out the sion logo in the background as I thought it gave the singer some identity like a lot of band shots don't. So i'm glad you like it!

yeah, it looks like a fine balancing act between exposure and noise, but it works well.

i'd be way too self conscious to take a photo like that. the closest i get to having people in my pix are candids.

Why? I'm curious to know. Street work, can't do that at all, I'd be afraid of getting punches for portraits, but band work, it's real easy, for me anyway.

With my 40d, battery grip and flashgun everyone moves out of the way, it's great, they think I'm from a magazine or something I think! I shoot a lot of promo stuff for my brothers band [link] and that's not so easy because often I know a fair chunk of the audience so they don't move, I suppose I should follow them out to gigs further afield but I'm too lazy to go further than andover/salisbury/southampton distance.
Just try it, it's usually a pretty good atmosphere.
