Description
A quick sketch for a bud who helped me out on a technical issue. First attempt at the Darkness created by the incomparable Marc Silvestri.First draft was too grey so I went back in and spotted blacks in the background and added some visual interest with white out pen.

I really envy Adrian right about now, amazing depiction of the Darkness.

It practically oozes the essence of evil, right out of the monitor~
I think the most interesting parts are the hands, and the hair. I suck at drawing either at any given time, so it awes me when I see beautifully drawn hands and hair.
Pretty damn impressive for a 'quick sketch'.

O_O jim... wtf? dude... marc NEEDS you as a guest artist. how awesome would that be to do an issue or two?! we also need to see a jim lee version of sara pezzini. i think it's so cool to see you draw a top cow character... i don't believe i've seen you ever do something like this. amazing!

Magnificent, a majestic rendition of one of the best character and costume created in the last 20 years. If Stan Lee has the nickname ¨the man¨, Jim Lee should be called Jim ¨the GOD¨Lee. Peace out!

Again, I'm really enjoying hearing about your thought processes on these pieces.
The spot black in the background does indeed help pop the character and I really like the grays in the smoke/flames at the bottom.

love the mask, quite different from the usual darkness dsign. and just to bust your chops a little(not that my opinion matters of course) jackies head is a little flat on top. alittle more hieght to his hair next time
so whats the good word? will you be participating in the big image crossover book?

Respectfully disagree--poofy hair makes him look too girly...he's not of the 80's!
Conscious decision to flatten the hair so it looks more vampiric in nature rather than Loverboy.

i'm with yah, definately no 80's feather! although that would be a little funny...
what i meant was there's some volume, just a little, to his hair all the way around, except directly ontop. that top line is almost totally in line with the curve of his skull if he was bald. i was humbly suggesting a slightly thicker line there. but this was a quick sketch for a friend and i probably shouldn't be correcting you
welcome to deviant art by the way

No, what I am saying is that I had it higher and it looked too groomed like he went to the salon. He should be more "street" with hair a bit tangly and greasy. And yeah I draw the domes down tight tho, even on Batman. I'm not a fan of the big forehead.

lol, i was going to say that he's italian, and we tend to be a greasy people,
i'm not a big fan of the 5-6head either.
on batman, and even superman i like how you cut the shape of their heads. its very... precise. your emphasis on the outlines tends to be very minimal and clean. i find a lot of artists go crazy with their line work, over emphasizing certain areas when they should be giving us a visual area to rest on...
say what kind of white-out do you use?
i'm playing with a bic shake-n-squeeze white-out pen and i hate it so i'm trying to use it up. there's no control with it so i end up having to go back and forth with the markers several times to get the line i want.
