A 24-year-old Luxembourgian superheroine called Funnel Web

Funnel Web is a superhero designed for DC comics, she is similar to Spiderman but has the powers to not only use spider powers, but to also turn into a funnel-web spider at will and shrink down to the size of a typical funnel web spider

Funnel Web’s true identity is German-accented 24-year-old Yvette Krauss (German: Krauß). A German-speaking woman from Luxembourg, who can also speak English due to having an American mother.

Yvette Krauss is a feisty, and loving woman who was born and raised in Luxembourg with her American mother, Pamela, who was a dress-designer and moved to Luxembourg to start a new life with her Swiss father, who was a cage-fighter, but later died in a fatal blow during the match.

Yvette grew up a tomboy who was always into boy-ish things and was questioned by her female pupils for hanging out with boys and not being a girly-girl. Yvette was interested in superheroes, cage-fighting and wrestling and admired strong females in these fields. Eventually, Yvette realized she wanted to become a professional cage-fighter and loved the different types of outfits and masks worn in the sport, Yvette even stated working out, and initially hesitated in telling her mother that she wanted to become a cage-fighter, since her father was killed cage-fighting

Yvette and her mother began fighting over this as Yvette really wanted to do this, but her mother didn't want to because she didn't want to lose her daughter the way that she lost her husband

In the middle of Yvette fighting with her mother, she was abducted from her home by members of her uncle's (Ariadd) cult and taken to Malaysia were she was forced to become the cult's high priestess

Yvette gained her powers from being the former high priestess of the Crimson Arachne, an evil American cult based in the Malaysian wilderness, which worships and manipulates spiders, which she was forced into being part of when she was 16 by the Cult’s leader, her American uncle, Edwin Parkes, a former science student who formed the cult, using his science skills to experiment on himself become a spider-human and used the power of the Black Arachnium, a mystical black diamond to control spiders.

When Krauss arrived with her uncle at the Crimson Arachne’s stronghold, her uncle used his magic to turn Krauss into the cult’s high priestess. The magic that Parkes used to also enhanced her body strength and granted her the ability to turn herself into spiders, as well as use it to manipulate and control spiders, even able to turn normal spiders into giant monster spiders

Krauss had become one of the Crimson Arachne’s most powerful members and was forced to carry out some of the Crimson Arachne’s most brutal rituals and pro-create with other cultists. She hated every moment of it, but was warned by her uncle that she would be sacrificed if she was disloyal to the Cult. She had eventually become so sick of the Cult’s ways that she resisted her uncle’s rules and vowed to leave the cult for good.

Krauss used her powers to take care of her uncle, before setting the Crimson Arachne’s stronghold on fire. Parkes did not take this well at all and, before being burnt to death, he attacked his niece with his spider powers, making her infertile by poisoning her ovaries, removing her magic and putting her in hospital, almost killing her, and causing her to have her ovaries removed since they were poisoned

After Krauss made a recovery in hospital back in Zurich, she began suffering PTSD brought on by her experinces of being in the Crimson Arachne, being forced to have kids with strangers, being made infertile, and being forced to do bad things to people by her uncle.

When Yvette was reunited with her mother, Yvette learned that her mother almost committed suicide and could never forgive herself for arguing with her, realizing that she came close to never seeing her daughter again, she was arrested twice for being drunk in public as a result of trauma from Yvette's disappearance, but was only just clinging to hope Yvette would come home one day

Pam told her daughter she was sorry and felt that the whole thing wouldn't have happened if she had just trusted Yvette, and so, Pam finally agreed to help her daughter become a cage-fighter and being a dress designer, helped design an outfit for her daughter to wear, and after a couple of years of hard training and outfits, Yvette became a cage-fighter

However, Krauss later discovered she still had some magic left over and while she could no longer control spiders, she was still muscular, she could still turn into a human-sized funnel web spider, shrink down to normal spider size (very useful for sneaking in tight spots), be immune to the venom from other spiders as long as the vemom wasn’t too strong, and her venom become non-fatal. This finally convinced Krauss to become strong and start a fulfilling a new chapter in her life, by becoming a superhero, and became FUNNEL WEB

Krauss was just like Spiderman in that she could use her webs to swing from place to place, only her webs couldn’t stretch as far as Spiderman’s could, it was more about her becoming a spider

Funnel Web is now a strong superhero who protects and helps people in the name of rising above herself after what she did within the Crimson Arachne. She is also a bisexual woman

Funnel Web’s physical weaknesses are that she can be easily squashed in her small spider form if she doesn’t move quick enough, insect repellent can be fatal for her in spider form, her powers have a side effect of making Funnel Web want to eat moths and small insects, which she can’t control, and it took her a long time to get used to walking on 8 legs. Her emotional weakness is that she would rather not talk about her time in her uncle’s cult, as she does not want people to know she was once a bad person, albeit forced to be

But is Funnel Web’s wicked uncle really dead? And are the Crimson Arachne really taken care of?
