Some of the time she and I play by webcam if we must, its has been that way since we were children. Dad was an excellent chess and billiards player he taught us both very young. We also learned a card game called Euchre. [link] Most have never heard of it. It was passed from generation to generation. I learned on my great grandfathers knee, he loved to cheat and my great grandmother loved to catch him

LOL, that's great ^^
I always thought that playing chess over the phone
or by mail was a cliché made up by the movie industry

Its a bit more aggrivating playing that way because you must memorize the board in case of someone messing with it or my cousin who when was very little played his own game and knocked the board over. We have a very old set made of Ivory.

Well its kind of a double edged sword. My father received it as a child from his great uncle, who had taught him on that board, it was left to my father in his will. We have to be so careful with the pieces. The board is made of english oak and folds, each piece having its own little slot inside of a mold and soft padding. The latch that holds it closed is so dainty and old, however we dont want to replace it, we want all the original hardware intact. The shields of the pawns, and other small details of the remaining pieces are either black or silver. It truly is a beautiful set. We dont use it often anymore for fear of something being broken. However it is truly wonderful to play with that set.
