Umm..seems like a weird argument to be making on an art site, but again got to disagree. I bring pleasure and enjoyment to people through my art and and stories, and honestly that's just as important as science or math. Living a long healthy life passed 100 years old means nothing if you have no happiness in your life.

Well I lack the skill and knowledge to do so either. My talent lies in conveying and using art to get a thought across. A good piece of art can change the world. However, it can take a lifetime for an artist to reach that peak and so it is necessary for them to do all they can to reach it as soon as they can. Yes art won't change anything directly, however art can change lives.

Art will only change artists. Viewers lack the comprehension, and since effective artists are in the minority; It is effectively useless to create art and display it to a general public for no reason other than thoughtless creation.
