So this month's crossover art is Rick and Morty, which is a show I really enjoyed when I was coming out of a depressive funk. The humor is this great balance of immature and mature jokes, it can be both smart and dumb at the same time. And the show has great consistency while still being formatted in a way where you can watch stand alone episodes without needing much context of the other episodes. The characters aren't just walking punchlines, they have a surprising amount of depth to them and they grow or digress as the show goes on. I would certainly call it an inspiration for when I was first coming up with My Magic Grandpa, though it was more the dimension travel and less the character dynamics that I drew inspiration from. A lot of people have pointed out that Coach and Suzie are like nega versions of Rick and Morty, (or would Rick and Morty be nega Coach and Suzie???) and I can totally see that. Who knows, maybe in some weird way, they could be very obscure alternate reality versions of Rick and Morty. Very obscure.
