Here's my idea: Set hardness to 5%, choose a reddish color not far from the skin tone, the lighter the more red it needs to be, the darker not so much. Then go over the area you'd like to have blushed (outer elbows and knees as well as cheeks are where I like) and had in some white highlights with a smaller brush(still at 5%) and boom You're done.
Now your pale oc looks alive
