I guess they left because Conker's Bad Fur Day has a mature theme in which they want Conker to move to a different company like Microsoft.

Actually, Rare WANTED to be bought out. They would ether get bought by Microsoft or Activision. And Activision is something I DESPISE. They would probably put Banjo Kazooie into Skylanders or something stupid. So I'm actually glad Microsoft bought out Rare. Though Nintendo should have purchased Rare when they had a chance. And by the way I happen to LIKE Nuts and Bolts.

It's quite pitiful that Rare was bought out by Microsoft. Not only did this mean multiple upcoming Nintendo / Rare games were altered/cancelled at that time, but also of how these various franchises that were made on the Nintendo consoles (namely Banjo-KazooieΒ and Conker) have been missing from the video game market for quite some time. Banjo-KazooieΒ would get their "Banjo-Threeie" entry with Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, but at the expense of the game being subpar compared to its predecessors. Conker would get a poor remake (Conker: Live & Reloaded), a temporary add-on for another PC game (Conker's Big ReunionΒ for Project Spark), and an upcoming prequel with horrifying visuals (Young Conker). At least these guys got to look back at their glory days with Rare Replay...
