a matte painting I did for vertigo films on mexico, where the director needed that WW II mood of a destroyed village , done in 3ds max and photoshop, final composition in FusionRelated content

You got the color and lighting spot-on, but for some reason the car isn't as convincing to me as the rest of the painting. Probably not very noticeable in the actual film, though.

I'd agree to a point. great work btw. the thing that doesnt fit 100% for me is the shed to the right of the man, it looks too "new" given the crumbling and rusting nature of everything else around it.

I assume the smoke was animated as well.
did you use photographic elements in the matte?

yes the smoke is animated in 3ds max, and I used lots of photo textures as well, from debris, destroyed buildings and as u can see the old car
