Finally a new personal illustration
Hopefully some of you still remember this little character.. I've had this in WIP for over 2 years...I've finally decided to finish it. Not everything is as I first imagined it, but the overall concept and mood came through

As the sun comes up on her new beginning, I have to wonder if she is a future princess going bravely into the city in a last ditch effort to save her poverty stricken hometown or if she is wistfully taking one last look back at the only life she's ever known while escaping the cruelly jaded metropolis to become a warrior fighting for the weak in a desolate, unforgiving landscape. I suppose my knee jerk reaction really is optimistic at heart; it's entirely possible she's a scullery maid running for her life after having stolen some trivial silver service and is just now realizing how f*ed she is after leaving the relative safety of society for the wasteland's even starker realities as the sun goes down and the cry of starved predators ululate in the cooling air.
I love work that poses questions and tells its own stories, and this has oodles! Thanks for the view!

All hail the return of the red-haired girl ! Presumably, after a sabbatical spent happily exploring a drab corner of suburbia, it is with a heavy heart she came back to the day job of discovering one jaw-dropping vista after another...
On a less flippant note, it is with a warm nostalgic feeling and real pleasure that we see her again (is it allowed to feel nostalgia for a time which is barely two or three years in the past ? well, two years is a long time in digital space...). This is a great piece, as ever : I particularly like the play of light, all the way from the intricate detail of the architecture (which is truly impressive, of course, like lace turned into stonework) to the rough terrain and ultimately the body of the girl. The painterly manner and broad strokes in which you drew the sky and clouds also give an interesting touch, very much like a late 18th-century or early 19th-century illustration.
